It was during his tenure with BP Exploration in the early 1990s while he was working on new international ventures that Robinson's long-standing interest in the petroleum and regional geology of the Black Sea took hold. It was triggered by his involvement with a BP project which included the Turkish sector of the Black Sea Robinson, a native of the United Kingdom, began his work in the oil industry with Shell, and later moved to BP While wrth BP Research, he worked on problems of reservoir quality and sandstone . Out of this work came two other books. Inorganic : Applications to Petroleum Geology, and Diagenesis and Basin Development. For this work, the Geological Society awarded him the William Smith fund. In 1994 Andrew lomed JKX Oil and Gas as Chief . Robinson studied geology at Oxford and Toronto Universities and obtained his Ph.D. at Reading university. Currently he resides in Surrey and continues to publish papers about two ot his great research interests: clastic diagenesis and the regional geology of Eurasia.

Andrew Robinson studied geology at Oxford and Toronto Universities and sub• sequently at Reading University, where he obtained a Ph.D. degree.

Andrew began his work in the oil industry with Shell, then moved in 1984 to BP. During five years in BP Research, he worked on problems of reservoir quality and sandstone diagenesis. Out of this work came the books Inorganic Geochemistry: Applications of Petroleum Geology and AAPG Studies in Geology 36, Diagenesis and Basin Development. For this work, the Geological Society awarded Andrew the William Smith Fund.

In 1990, Andrew moved to BP Exploration and worked on international new ven• tures, one of which involved the Turkish sector of the Black Sea. At this point, his longstanding interest in the petroleum and regional geology of the Black Sea began.

Since leaving BP in 1994, Andrew has worked for JKX Oil & Gas as Chief Geologist, where he has continued to publish papers about two of his great research interests: clastic diagenesis and the regional geology of Eurasia.
