Statement of Purpose

Petroleum Abstracts is an abstracting and indexing service within Energy Abstracts. We have the world’s leading database for petroleum exploration and production related to scientific and technical information.

Petroleum Abstracts Bulletin

Petroleum Abstracts contains abstracts of the worldwide technical literature pertaining to petroleum exploration and production. Journals, patent gazettes, full-text patents, conference proceedings, standards, books, dissertations, and other publications are reviewed for technical material of interest to professionals in the following areas: geology, geophysics, geochemistry, drilling, well logging, well completion, production, reservoir studies, transportation and storage, alternate fuels, business and economics, HSE, and science and engineering.

Bulletin records are distributed weekly via email in various formats. Subscribers may elect to receive either the entire Bulletin electronically or to receive various record subsets based on user interest profiles. Contact Petroleum Abstracts for subscription information on these services.

TULSA Database

As each issue of the Bulletin is produced, the same material (with an expanded set of index terms) is added to an online file, the TULSA database. This database, growing at a rate of about 40,000 items per year, contains more than 1.3 million Petroleum Abstracts entries dating from 1965. It also includes the Oil and Gas Fields Bibliography, a subfile of earlier references for oil and gas fields around the world. Subscribing to Petroleum Abstracts

Organizations can obtain an annual search license for the online TULSA database or an annual subscription to the email Petroleum Abstracts Bulletin, or both, by following these four steps. (Search licenses and PA Bulletin subscriptions are not available for individuals.)

1. Contact Petroleum Abstracts for a price quotation by email, [email protected], or complete the subscription information request form on the PA Website, http://www.pa.utulsa.edu.

2. Choose an online vendor or ask Petroleum Abstracts to help with a vendor arrangement, if you plan to access PA's online TULSA database,

3. Request and complete the standard PA Subscription Agreement and email it or mail it to Petroleum Abstracts.

4. Request an invoice and make arrangements for payment. Payment must be in U.S. dollars and can be made by check or bank draft, credit card, money order or direct wire transfer of funds.
