SPORTS FIELDS

Canada Bay's sporting fields are among the most renowned in NSW. Set against the backdrop of the harbour, they are also some of the most scenic.

Numerous sports and clubs call the area home, with professional facilities for both players and spectators. Council's ground staff work hard to keep the fields in top condition. Council has a Sports Rating System which can be viewed on Council's website, which was developed for managing ground conditions and maintenance planning. Closure of fields in wet weather Council endeavours to have all fields usable and employs a range of methods to notify of wet weather status updates.

Council's wet weather line (9911 6375) is updated when status changes occur. In most cases this will happen by 3pm on weekdays. Weekend updates will usually be made in the morning, when required.

The wet weather page of Council's website is also updated on weekdays with a full listing, if closures occur. As weather is unpredictable, Council reserves the right to alter its decisions on any ground closures after considering the current weather conditions either through weekdays or the weekend. Ideally, if you are unsure of ground conditions always call the wet weather line.

An SMS update is sent to a pre-approved list of club personnel. If you are a coach or manager and feel you should be on this list, please contact your club. Maintenance Requests Council has a specific form that can be used for reporting maintenance issues with sporting fields or park facilities. This can be found on the 'contact us' page of our website or you can call customer service on 9911 6555. Use of Council sports fields If you are interested in using a field you need to speak with Council's Parks and Recreation Bookings Co-ordinator in the first instance. Due to the high usage of our fields and long standing seasonal bookings and local schools, casual use cannot always be permitted. For more information please email [email protected] or via phone on 9911 6555. Please see Council's 'Forms and Fact Sheets' page of our website for all relevant application forms.

There are a large variety of sports that are played on Council's Sports fields. This is a list of our clubs and the fields they use. Contact details can be found on Council's website.
