Preface The publication Novi Sad, An Overview of The Jevvish Cul- tural Heritage is the first опе of its kind. Mislim da bi za Bitef bila idealna situacija da pronađemo nešto što još nije dobilo ime, nešto što nije postmoderna i postdramsko, nešto četvrto. Moj ideal bi bio da Bitef negde u svetu pronađe nešto što se čini kao starinsko, ili glupavo, ili blesavo, ili kao bilo kakav iskorak, nešto što će biti znak da će se iz toga pojaviti neki novi Leman i dati mu ime. Kao radna hipoteza, to znači tragati za onim što će, ipak, biti nekakva drugačija tendencija. Suša: Duh vremena je takav i više ne možemo da govorimo o novumu, jer je sve novum u odnosu na nešto drugo. Već se dugo u umetnosti, u svim vrstama umetnosti, sve vrti oko manje ili više upečatljivih autorskih poetika, koje kompiliraju, koje su najčešće eklektične, autoreferentne. U međuvremenu je savremeno, najsavremenije pozorište, ako tako mogu da kažem, puno preuzelo iz iskustava vizuelne umetnosti – ne kod nas, naravno – što onda implicira i veze s teorijom, medijskom kulturom i sl. Sve je to ostavilo svog traga i mislim da je to što nazivaš „istorijskom avangardom“, putem koje je Bitef mogao da ponudi neke nove informacije, a u odnosu na tadašnji kontekst, i to ne samo lokalni nego i internacionalni, bilo neko poslednje vreme u istoriji savremene civilizacije u kojoj su stvari funkcionisale kroz neke velike poteze, kroz pokrete. -
