Addressing the Brokenness in Our Church Today

Bishop Robert Barron’s new book Letter to a Suffering Church is available for a $1 donation after all Masses while supplies last.

The sexual abuse scandal has gripped the for the past thirty years, and continues to wreak havoc even today, leaving countless lives in ruins. Many Catholics are understand- ably asking, “Why should I stay? Why not abandon this sinking ship before it drags me or my children under?"

Bishop Robert Barron explains why this is not the time to leave, but the time to stay and fight.

For Catholics questioning their faith, searching desperately for encouragement and hope, this book will offer reasons to stay and fight for the Body of Christ.

Free copies are available online at https://order.sufferingchurchbook.com/order or scan this QR code with your phone. This is the first book in our new (Shipping costs apply.) parish-wide evangelization series called Complete the form in the book to reserve a seat at our gathering to discuss the book with each other on Sept, 5 at 7 pm.

HUMAN NEEDS MINISTRIES (CONT’D) Culture of Life, Hunger, and Shelter Ministries

August is Catholic Charities Month!

Although the summer weather is a welcome break from the harsh Chicagoland winters, it creates expenses and challenges for those who live on poverty-level incomes.

Hot days can be dangerous, even deadly, for individuals who live outdoors or have homes without air conditioning.  Children don’t have access to free (or reduced price) school meals over summer break.  Working parents on tight budgets struggle to afford safe and reliable childcare to cover the months when school is out.  Isolated seniors quietly suffer in the heat.

Unfortunately, summer is also a time when charitable donations drop, but our client numbers remain high. Our poor and vulnerable neighbors need your help today… for a nutritious meal, a safe place to stay, and for the extra bit of assistance that can make a real difference.

August is Catholic Charities Month and we pray that you will give a gift which will create a positive impact on someone living in poverty. All of our programs and services have seen the impact of the high temperatures this summer. Our work is only possible because of God’s grace and your generosity.

Can you help? There are several easy ways to donate:  Send a check to: Catholic Charities, 16555 Weber Rd., Crest Hill, IL 60403  Call 815-724-1140  Donate online: catholiccharitiesjoliet.org

On behalf of those we serve, thank you! To learn more about the programs and services provided by Catholic Charities, Diocese of Joliet, visit catholiccharitiesjoliet.org.
