U19s Programme 2018 (FINAL) Upper Hutt U19 Bob Bamford Memorial Tournament 6th-7th October 2018 Maidstone Park Upper Hutt Bring in this flyer and receive trade prices exclusive to Upper Hutt City Football members and supporters Parapine ITM, 19 Park Street, Upper Hutt Ph +64 4 527 6800 Fx +64 4 527 9841 [email protected] UHCF U19 tournament 6-7 October 2018 Welcome A very warm welcome to all the players, coaches, managers and supporters to the Parapine ITM 2018 Upper Hutt City Football U19 Bob Bamford Memorial Tournament. This year marks the 31st anniversary of the event, designed to assist teams in the lower North Island with their preparations for the National Youth Tournament in Napier at Labour Weekend. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome players, coaches, managers and supporters of all teams and wish you a successful weekend of football. As always we expect some very competitive matches, with the added spice of clubs renewing old rivalries with passion and commitment. This is what football is all about and we trust all participants will respect the laws of the game and ensure the matches are played in a good spirit. I would also like to make special mention of our referees this weekend, we are very grateful to them for contributing their time, and I urge everyone to treat the officials with the respect they deserve. Finally, a special thanks to our Upper Hutt City Football committee and support crew who put in countless hours to provide this quality event. And to our primary sponsor Parapine ITM, plus Upper Hutt Car Sales, Panhead, The Professionals, Naylor Love, Farrah’s and the Rimutaka Trust for their support. Enjoy the tournament! Jamie Wood, UHCF Chairman Questions or comments? Look out for the Upper Hutt City Football volunteers at Maidstone or Harcourt over the weekend, or contact Mark Ellis, Tournament Controller on 022 183 1967. @UHC_Football UpperHuttCityFootball #UHCFU19s Tournament - HISTORY The Upper Hutt U19 Tournament was introduced in 1987. It started as a result of local Hutt Valley teams having limited access to grounds yet wanting games under their belt to prepare for the U19 tournament in Napier. After talking to a number of local coaches who expressed their frustration about the limited build up available for Napier, the Upper Hutt club offered to host a mini Napier tournament that would be held three weeks before the Napier event. The grounds were booked, referees arranged and six teams; Upper Hutt, Lower Hutt, Petone, Stop Out, Wainuiomata and Stokes Valley played in the inaugural tournament, with the host team the eventual winner. The club was asked to hold the event again the following year with invites sent to all Wellington teams as well as Napier City Rovers. The tournament was extended to 12 teams that year, with Miramar crowned champions. Over the years the tournament has grown to include clubs from further afield such as Napier, Castlecliff, Wanganui, Palmerston North, Taranaki and Wairarapa. In recent years, we’ve introduced a “Development Draw” to allow the clubs the opportunity to enter two teams, or for those clubs who do not want to play in the main draw but are keen for their youth players experience tournament conditions. Unfortunately we had to cancel the Development Draw again this year, but look forward to its return next year! In 2015, we recognised a long-time supporter of the club, our very own Harcourt Hooligan, Bob Bamford, by naming the tournament and trophy the Bob Bamford Memorial. Bob was also a long time committee member who had a special fondness for this tournament and we are pleased to recognise his contribution to the Tararua Sports Club and Upper Hutt City Football in this way. Miramar, Tournament Winners 2017 Bob was always a true club supporter Tournament - Regulations • All games are 25 min each way with a 3 min break at half time. • All playoff games will go to straight to penalties if the game is tied at full time. Except the Cup Final which will play 7½ min each way of extra time and then penalties if the game remains tied at the end of extra time. • Each team can make 5 subs per game – NO rolling subs. Once a player has been substituted they cannot come back onto the pitch. • The team listed in the draw first is the home team – if there is a clash of playing colours the away team is to wear an alternate strip (unless otherwise agreed by the teams). • The home team is to supply the match ball. • The ranking of each team in each group shall be determined as follows: • greatest number of points obtained in all group matches • goal difference in all group matches • greatest number of goals scored in all group matches • If two or more teams are equal on the basis of the above three criteria, their rankings shall be determined as follows: • greatest number of points obtained in the group matches between the teams concerned • goal difference resulting from the group matches between the teams concerned • greater number of goals scored in all group matches between the teams concerned • drawing of lots by the Tournament Controller. • Players in this competition must have been under the age of 19 on 1st January this year. • Clubs may use as many ‘guest players’ on their team card as they like but they must have approval of the Club the players are registered with. Teams who have players that have not been cleared by their clubs will not be allowed to use these players in any game after the player’s registered club complains. No penalty will be imposed for games played by the player before the complaint was made. If you are unsure about a player’s standing please sort it out before the tournament. • A player can’t play for more than one club at this tournament without the permission of the organisers. • In the event that a club has more than one team entered in the tournament, movement of players between the teams is restricted to a maximum of 3 players. The movement of more than 3 players is at the discretion of the Tournament Controller. • Any player receiving two cautions during this competition will stand down for 1 match. Any player sent from the field automatically stands down for the following game. If a player is sent from the field for an offence that warrants more than one game suspension, eg violent conduct, the suspension will be increased to two games. • Players sent off twice during the tournament will be suspended for the remainder of the tournament. • Cautions (including bad language) and suspensions will carry from Saturday into Sunday • Coaches and Managers etc, will still be liable under Capital Football Playing Regulations. Tournament - FORMAT 12 team competition | 2 groups of six This year’s entries have meant we aren’t able to run the traditional 16 team format with the top 2 from each group qualifying for the Cup round. With 12 teams entered we have gone for 2 groups of 6 with the top team from each group playing for the Cup, the teams finishing second in the group playing for the plate and the teams finishing third in the group playing for the shield. While this format is similar to the just completed Ivan England tournament, we have looked to mix up the teams so you are playing in a new group. Plus the tournament format still provides teams with great preparation for the main event in Napier. The other benefit of having a 12 team tournament is we can play all the matches at Maidstone. Harcourt will be available but only used if bad weather affects the pitches. Ground Location Turf 1 2 Maidstone Park Park Street Upper Hutt FEED YOUR HUNGER AND SLAKE YOUR THIRST! Monday, 5 June 2017 Chatham Cup Programme – NWAFC vs NPRAFC Page 1 of 7 Welcome, It is my pleasure to welcome everyone to Alex Moore Park for this important ISPS Handa Chatham Cup match as we host New Plymouth Rangers. As the largest senior club in the Wellington region we are pleased and proud to offer footballing opportunities for players of all ages and stages on the football spectrum. The Northern Hills Pathway has been an important initiative for football development in our area. We are working together with the Onslow and North Wellington junior football clubs, Newlands and Onslow Colleges, to create a player pathway for footballers of any ability. This is one of the most significant pieces of work ever embarked upon. Although in its early stages, all 5 organisations agreeing to work together and collaborate with the aim of promoting the best interests of footballers is a worthy objective which will have positive ramifications for years to come. Our partnership with the Ngatiawa Russell Masonic Lodge and their sponsorship of our Men’s Premier team has been a very positive experience. This alliance has increased the profile of our club while also promoting the opportunity to become involved in Freemasonry. The recent announcement by Just Paterson Real Estate of their sponsorship of our Men’s Reserve and Third teams has been equally well received.

The First Word My blood is red… and gold! Well it was an interesting Easter break that saw the ―Prems‖ earn a last minute penalty to record an away draw at Marist. It was a game the coaching staff and players felt we did enough to win but football’s all about finishing and perhaps an away point is better than a loss! And then for the Chatham Cup game on Monday Besim was able to rest a couple of senior players and blood some youth as we cruised past the hapless Naenae side 4 nil. It was an emphatic victory based on our quick passing game. It’s nice to see the squad system working effectively and player depth is crucial to the success of any campaign as we work around the inevitable A broken wrist will keep player suspension and injury.

It’s been a promising start for pretty much all teams in 2014. Sure it’s early days but there’s a nice positive vibe around the club. The Prems signaled their intentions with a good start against Miramar but a hiccup at a windswept and very uninviting Karori Park saw us suffer a 1-2 loss. Refreshing to be back at Hutt Park with a game against the vastly different Island Bay side from the Ole inspired teams of the last couple of seasons. They haven’t had the best start but to be fair have come up against two of the league favourites. And Island Bay are a big club with huge player depth so today will be a massive challenge! Our 2nd team are unbeaten and also come up against Island Bay today on #2. The 3rds have also had a good start to their season with two from two.

A quick recap of the last two weekends – our Liquid IT Men’s First Team had a loss and a draw and now sit mid-table, Reserves two good wins, Third Team two losses and Fourth Team two wins and sit nicely on top of the Wellington 3 table. Our Powerex Women’s First Team had two wins and sit near the top of the W-League, Reserves two losses and U18 Team a win and a loss, so this development team is going really well. Our closed-shop teams had a mix of results over the two weeks. But from the vibe in the clubrooms, they are all loving being out playing football again. With a full round of games for all of our teams except masters this week due to the school holidays, we have an exciting weekend ahead of us. The main game today is our Liquid IT Petone Men’s First Team against Waterside Karori – both teams needing points to rise up the league table. The curtain raiser is Petone Reserves versus Waterside Karori Third Team – so hopefully a lot of support for both teams here today. And continuing the theme, next weekend (July 18) our Powerex Women’s First Team also host Waterside Karori.

Just over the half way point in the season for our teams, although our Women’s Premier have just three games remaining—don’t ask why! And it’s wonderful to see that both our first teams sit atop their respective Premier Leagues. It mirrors last year’s performance where we won both the Men’s and Women’s Capital Premier titles. Bu there’s a lot of footy to be played and a lot of 50-50’s to be contested before any celebration can begin—let alone thought about. But better to be first in the league than last! Today’s opposition Waterside can attest to that. Only a couple of weeks ago they were in the Cup and unbeaten in the league. Sometimes the difference between a win or a loss can be a marginal decision, a few suspensions and a few injuries! But as our first round loss to them confirms, Wharfies are still one of the 3 favourites with Stop Out and Wellington United—to win the Premier League The nuisance of Miramar and Olympic 2nd teams in Capital Premier just confuses the push to win the league as they can’t gain promotion into Central league.
