A win today against Wests would provide a huge boost to our team and continue our push up the table. We knew today would be a difficult game against an already very talented Wests side boosted by the return of some of their players who had been playing in the National League. Early in the game we were very organized We came out for the second half with a couple of defensively and were applying ourselves problems with illness that threatened to test excellently to the game plan. Wests were our squad even further than before we started frustrated in possession and lacked any threat in the game. We started this game still without the behind our defence. In possession we struggled injured Lewis Jackson, Jono Steele and Devon and couldn’t gain any composure with the quick Batchelor. We are still awaiting the return of James pressure from Wests to win the ball back. We had moments where we caused Wests a few problems Sharp who is away and fell deeper in the whole with good pressure to win possession high up this week with Cherbel Khouchaba falling sick.

It’s been a month since we played at Hutt Park. A tough away encounter at Wests, a Chatham Cup game in the polar wind tunnel at Wakefield Park against Island Bay and then another night game in freezing conditions against Lower Hutt at Fraser. Well it’s nice to be home and playing during the daytime — on grass! Season two back in Central League has seen an improved start to the campaign. In fact our last home defeat was close to a year ago on the 13th June 2015 against you guessed it — Napier City Rovers. This season has seen a host of yellows and reds being handed out—something like 8 reds in all games we’ve been involved in already! And that seems to be consistent with our Central and Capital Premier colleagues with a host of games being impacted in this way.

Welcome to Hutt Park. Another week off last weekend for our first team squad with our scheduled opposition Olympic playing in the Chatham Cup. It really does need some serious consideration from New Zealand Football with the impact on the league campaigns of those teams who are no longer in the Chatham Cup - which is of course the majority of teams around footballing circles! Last outing against Tawa was an unusual situation after a hard fought match and a good point. It was curious because it felt flat for many supporters as the result whilst admirable seemed insignificant; seeing we are already safely ensconced in the middle of the Central League pack after a tremendous start to the season. Over the last 3 or 4 years in Capital Premier we’ve always been near the top with our push for promotion back into Central League so every game seemed to have something riding on the result.

Monday, 5 June 2017 Chatham Cup Programme – NWAFC vs NPRAFC Page 1 of 7 Welcome, It is my pleasure to welcome everyone to Alex Moore Park for this important ISPS Handa Chatham Cup match as we host New Plymouth Rangers. As the largest senior club in the Wellington region we are pleased and proud to offer footballing opportunities for players of all ages and stages on the football spectrum. The Northern Hills Pathway has been an important initiative for football development in our area. We are working together with the Onslow and North Wellington junior football clubs, Newlands and Onslow Colleges, to create a player pathway for footballers of any ability. This is one of the most significant pieces of work ever embarked upon. Although in its early stages, all 5 organisations agreeing to work together and collaborate with the aim of promoting the best interests of footballers is a worthy objective which will have positive ramifications for years to come. Our partnership with the Ngatiawa Russell Masonic Lodge and their sponsorship of our Men’s Premier team has been a very positive experience. This alliance has increased the profile of our club while also promoting the opportunity to become involved in Freemasonry. The recent announcement by Just Paterson Real Estate of their sponsorship of our Men’s Reserve and Third teams has been equally well received.

It was a game the coaching staff and players felt we did enough to win but football’s all about finishing and perhaps an away point is better than a loss! And then for the Chatham Cup game on Monday Besim was able to rest a couple of senior players and blood some youth as we cruised past the hapless Naenae side 4 nil. It was an emphatic victory based on our quick passing game. It’s nice to see the squad system working effectively and player depth is crucial to the success of any campaign as we work around the inevitable A broken wrist will keep player suspension and injury.

It’s been a promising start for pretty much all teams in 2014. Sure it’s early days but there’s a nice positive vibe around the club. The Prems signaled their intentions with a good start against Miramar but a hiccup at a windswept and very uninviting Karori Park saw us suffer a 1-2 loss. Refreshing to be back at Hutt Park with a game against the vastly different Island Bay side from the Ole inspired teams of the last couple of seasons. They haven’t had the best start but to be fair have come up against two of the league favourites. And Island Bay are a big club with huge player depth so today will be a massive challenge! Our 2nd team are unbeaten and also come up against Island Bay today on #2. The 3rds have also had a good start to their season with two from two.
