– All areas within the side and rearyards that are fully enclosed by 5 ft. wall or fence. (Measured from interior grade) – Behind a 5 ft. privacy view fence. (The area from the fence to 5 ft. away is Enhanced Zone) – Courtyards that are not visible from the street. PATIO – Plant density is 1:40 sq. ft. (special allowance 1:25 sq. ft. when total planting area is less than optimal).

STREET ENHANCED ZONE

– All non enclosed areas from the face and side walls of the home to the end of natural zone. – Courtyards that are visible from the street. – Plant density is 1:20 sq. ft. – Base shrub requirements are listed in the Abbreviated Plant Palette in this booklet.

NATURAL ZONE

– From the curb 12 ft. into the front/side yard (distance should not include the sidewalk). – Plant density is 1:15 sq. ft. Parkway (where applicable) Plant density is 1:20 sq. ft. – Base shrub requirements are listed STREET in the Abbreviated Plant Palette in this booklet.

Additional choices for this zone are: Gaura, Elephant Food, British Ruellia, Autumn Sage, Bat Faced Cuphea, Mexican Honeysuckle, Wooly Butterfly Bush Groundcovers – Katie Ruellia, Sierra Dalea, Trailing Yellow Lantana, Wedelia, Rain Lily, Compact Germander Vines – Bougainvillea (specific ), Lady Banks Rose, Lilac Vine, Trumpet Vine, Snail Vine

Natural Zone Trees - Blue Palo Verde, Desert Willow, Native Mesquite, Ironwood Cacti/Accents - Soaptree Yucca, Twin Flowering Agave, Desert Milkweed, Hohokam Agave, Hesperaloe Shrubs (large) – Red Fairy Duster, Pink Fairy Duster, Yellow Bells, Arizona Rosewood, Red Bird of Paradise Shrubs (med/small) –Base Shrub Requirement*- 1 in every 8 plants must be Turpentine and 1 in 8 may be any combination of Turpentine, Bursage or Desert Marigold.
