A milestone in Soroptimist Public Awareness was achieved with the initiative of SI Congressional to use giant 4-meter x 8-meter LED Billboards along EDSA, the main thoroughfare of Metro Manila, to broadcast Soroptimist activities to millions of commuters for one month • SIPR Leadership and Training Institute conducted among the general membership training sessions specially designed with four (4) modules – Succession Planning; Leadership Strategy for Successful Soroptimist Experience; Welcome to the World of Soroptimist; and Spirituality and Inner Peace. • Biennium 2016-2018 Advocacy – “Educate and Train Women and Girls to Access and Conserve Safe Water” # Water is Wealth for Women (WWW) was successful and gaining. We established linkages with the Philippine Luxembourg Society (PLS) last January 2017 on water projects, a grant of EURO 5,000 from ING Bank was awarded to four (4) clubs. • The Unsung Women Heroes Awards was revived in 2008 with 7 awardees. This project recognizes women who, with great fervor and a little fanfare, have made it their life’s work to uplift the well-being of other women and girls. • SIPR received the most number of awards during the SIA conventions under my term as Governor. SIPR received six (6) awards at the 45th Mid-Biennial Convention at Toronto, Canada, 2017 SIPR received five (5) awards at the Soroptimist 45th Biennial Convention, Yokohama, Japan, 2018 CANDIDATE’S STATEMENT Please answer the following questions in your statement. The SIA Board of Directors has identified skills and attributes that board members should possess in the position description. Please describe how your past experiences in Soroptimist and other aspects of your background, education and training provide these skills and attributes, and qualify you to serve on the SIA Board of Directors. A SIA Director must fully understand the capabilities, commitment and passion of the membership in relation to the mission and vision of Soroptimist. She must have innovative leadership and ability to delegate and develop future leaders. My 26 years as an active member and leader of SI Makati and SIPR has prepared me to qualify and serve as SIA Director. My early experience in creating livelihood and education opportunities of marginalized sectors in remote mining areas as well as interactions with business and government sectors opened my vision of what people need and how to create a network to amplify improvement in the communities. How would you use your background and experience to achieve the outcomes in SIA’s Strategic Plan, and focus on increasing our collective impact as an organization? I could help in the recruitment of new members, continuing in-house leadership and skills training program for members and expand networking with government and socially responsible non-government organizations. There is strength in numbers. What special qualities would you bring to the Board of Directors? My best asset is my innovative leadership built on first-hand experience with all kinds of people. I am willing to learn, patient to listen and happy to share. Most of all, I am an approachable person and a Soroptimist.
