Prior simulation
htp was able to resort to some of its existing ADVA sys- tems for ROADM implementation. The Carrier team took charge of the installation and operation of the new so- lution, with dacoso attendance and support: The entire ROADM scenario was simulated in advance in the dacoso laboratory in Langen. A worthwhile effort to ensure that all the potential sources of error could be remedied be- forehand. The dacoso technicians thereafter trained the htp team on the demo version, passing on their expertise in the Add-Drop multiplexer. “Faster is always good, of course, and remote is even better”, explains Achim Garbe, network planning manager at htp. “Network stability nevertheless remains top priority. Our pilot tests in the dacoso laboratory, however, gave us the con- fidence that the new solution will work. It is reassuring to have the dacoso team ready to provide backup during live operation.”
