  • Turtle Ship - Wikipedia
2/28/2021 Turtle ship - Wikipedia Turtle ship A Geobukseon (Korean: 거북선, Korean pronunciation: [kʌbuksən]), also known as turtle ship in western descriptions, was a type of large Korean warship that was used intermittently by the Royal Korean Navy during the Joseon dynasty from the early 15th century up until the 19th century. It was used alongside the panokseon warships in the fight against invading Japanese naval ships. The ship's name derives from its protective shell-like covering.[1] One of a number of pre-industrial armoured ships developed in Europe and in East Asia, this design has been described by some as the first armored ship in the world.[2] https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turtle_ship 1/14 2/28/2021 Turtle ship - Wikipedia A scaled-down turtle ship replica at the War Memorial of Korea in Seoul. • [2141] a Tension Leg Platform (TLP) Is an Offshore Floating Platform Which Is Used for Oil and Gas Exploration
[2141] A Tension Leg Platform (TLP) is an offshore floating platform which is used for oil and gas exploration. The Tension Leg Platform (TLP Platform) is so referred because of its structural dynamics. The offshore platform consists of steeled sinewy pillars that are tautened on purpose and supported with cable-lines to provide weightlessness to the floating operational platform structure above the surface of the water. One of the most extensively used type of oil platform, the oil platform design gains immense credibility primarily because of this structural singularity and secondly because of its high efficiency levels in comparatively deeper high seas operational areas. [2142] The constructional configuration of the TLP platform can be categorized into three major components. The operational rectangular deck of the platform rising above the oceanic surface is quite akin to other types of high seas’ drilling and rig decks. Just below the operational platform are four pontoon-like pillars filled up with air that provide the necessary weightlessness to the above placed operating deck. These pontoon-like structures are regarded to be the mainframe torso of the entire tension leg platform. [2143] Affixed to this torso are the aforementioned cable-lines that are appropriately tautened so as provide the necessary tenseness that would account for the weightlessness of the overall structure. Extending from the pontoons are the steeled sinews, founded deep into the oceanic depths. These steeled structures enable the provision of stability to the entirety of the offshore oil drilling platform on a more permanent basis, as compared to other existing offshore rig platforms.

The Russian Connection in Singapore’s Local Art Identity DAVID LOW KOK KIAT1 Abstract The uncritical acceptance of the Nanyang art discourse as central to the discussion of Singapore’s local art identity obfuscates its historical emergence from a richly pluralistic artistic milieu which existed from the 1920s to the 1940s. This article illustrates the diversity of artistic practice in Singapore during this period, through a case study of three Russian artists in Singapore: Anatole Shister, Vasily Zasipkin and Vladimir Tretchikoff. Examining their migration stories, as well as studying their art and their involvement in the local art world, the article reveals how global upheavals of this period informed Singapore’s artistic milieu, contributing to a cosmopolitan environment that allowed for interaction between artists from around the world. In Singapore, artists from different backgrounds and with diver- gent motives shared in the efforts of depicting local life, searching for local colour and painting the region. Introduction In Singapore, notable appraisals of works by Russian artists were given at the Fight for Freedom exhibition of 1941, held at the Victoria Memorial Hall; an exhibition wherein both European and Chinese artists who arrived in Singapore between the 1920s and 1940s were seen displaying works that Southeast of Now Vol.
