" “: 지면관게로, 석간역에서는 ” “로 표기한다. 강세나 억양은 평범한 의미에서는 동의어로 볼 수 있으나, 히브리어 문법에서 는 구별해서 사용한다, 는 한 단어에서 어떤 음절의 소리가 높고 낮음을 표현 하는 기호 이다. 반면에 은 성경의 한 구절을 읽을 때에, 2-3개의 단어들을 이어서 읽고, 띄어서 읽고, 어떤 단어를 보다 더 강하게 발음하고 소리하는가를 지시하여 주는 기호이며, 성경을 암송할 때 사용했으며, 현대 음악의 이음줄이나 붙임줄 쉼 표와 같은 기능들이다. 그리고 어절억양은 약칭으로 이라 칭한다. 어절억양 기 호들은 발음기호 보다 약 천 여년 앞서서 발명되었다(JM§15e(1)). 성서 히브리어에서는 수십 종류의 기호들을 사용해서 어절억양들을 표현했다. 첫째로 히브리어는 조사가 없는 언어이기 때문에, 전통적으로 어절 억양들을 사용 해서 이어야 할 말들은 이어 주고 분리해야 할 말들은 분리 시켜 놓았다. 둘째로는 어절 억양들을 사용해서 마치 시조를 가락에 맞추어 읊는 것처럼, 회당에서 구약성 경의 절들을 가락에 맞추어 읊을 수 있도록 가락을 표시해 놓았다. 셋째로는 문법 적으로 비슷한 형들을 구별하기 위해서 “어절 억양”을 사용했다. Recalling the earlier proposal of Kurylowicz (1972, 1975), it is argued that the organizational princi- ples of the Tiberian liturgical chant (syllable, foot, and, crucially, pho- nological phrase) are also the metrical principles of biblical poetry — or at least that of Job, Proverbs and a fair portion of the Psalms. When the musical transformations of the poetic accent system are taken into account, Psalm 111 conforms to Kurylowicz’s 2+2 phrases per verse.
