Since 2002 the D.G. Menchetti Young Shakespeare Program has entertained over 50,000 children and their families around the region. Join us this summer as we present an hour-long adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet specifically designed for children and adults alike! Join the cast of the D.G. Menchetti Young Shakespeare Program as the cast of local professional actors teams up with some of the area’s middle and high school students to present Shakespeare’s classic tale of love and heartbreak. This interactive hour-long adaptation of the Bard’s most famous love story is sure to entertain all the family. It’s 1985 and Principal Escalus of Verona High School is sick and tired of his student’s bad behavior. To teach them a lesson he sentences them to a Saturday spent in detention and sets them to the task of staging Shakespeare’s famous story Romeo and Juliet. With help from some of the faculty this band of misfit students learn that sometimes true love doesn’t always mean happily ever after. All performances are FREE, but reservations are required due to capacity limits at each venue. Visit LakeTahoeShakespeare.com to reserve your tickets.

Ages 7-16 Each school year our in-school residency program InterACT brings the wonderful world and works of William Shakespeare to life for thousands of students K-12. Rather than taking a cookie-cutter approach, InterACT workshops are carefully crafted with teachers to meet the specific needs of their classes or groups, with workshops ranging from one day up to two-weeks in length. InterACT is available throughout the school year and on a range of subjects from studying a specific Shakespeare play, to exploring and understanding Shakespeare’s language, to acting (beginner/intermediate/advanced). To find out more out the InterACT program, please visit laketahoeshakespeare.com/education.
