Acquisition Information Bulk of materials transferred from Arts and Lectures in 2004. Merged with other Arts and Lectures holdings in 2008. Audio merged from University Archives Recordings in 2010. Additional materials received periodically. Scope and Content of Collection The collection contains individual files relating to lectures, performances, film series and other events arranged and/or sponsored by Arts and Lectures (previously known as the Committee on Arts and Lectures), as well as general files on press Guide to the University of UArch 16 2 California, Santa Barbara, Arts and Lectures Records releases, calendars and programs, a large collection of posters, and audio recordings of some events. Audiotapes from University Archives Recordings were added to this guide in 2010. The collection is generally arranged chronologically by school year. Arrangement Series I, Dated files, contains Arts and Lectures event and committee meeting files arranged chronologically. Files contain correspondence, publicity information, budgets, minutes, and other materials relating to individual events and committee proceedings. Arranged chronologically. Series II, Alphabetical film files, contains summaries of films shown by Arts and Lectures over the years arranged alphabetically by title (addition, April 2011). Series III, Related groups and events, contains flyers, calendars, etc. from groups such as the Santa Barbara Symphony and the Natural History Museum on related and/or cosponsored events. Series IV, Undated/miscellaneous files, contains general files on Regents' Lecturers, inactive correspondence with possible visiting lecturers and performers, undated flyers, programs, etc. Materials generally from 1957-1980. Series V, Oversize, contains posters, flyers, calendars and other oversize materials relating to Arts and Lectures events, arranged chronologically. Materials housed in boxes and map cabinet drawers. Series VI, Audio, contains open reel and cassette tapes of some Arts and Lectures-sponsored events, such as lectures, panels, interview, etc. Many but not all tapes have corresponding files. There are some discrepancies in lecture titles and/or dates between the audio and lecture files. Listed alphabetically by speaker/performer.
