As a Special Needs Learning Support Assistant, you will be supporting children with a variety of needs such as Autism, Learning difficulties, SEMH and Speech and Language. You will be working in partnership with the SENDCo and Class Teacher in developing effective interventions to support the children’s learning and development and progress towards independence. In addition, you will be helping children with their Communication and Social skills. You will have good experience in supporting children with Special Needs. This role will involve supporting individuals with special education needs in the classroom, as well as small groups of pupils out of the classroom. The successful candidate will have a genuine passion to help pupils with special educational needs to make excellent progress. We have a track record of great training and will teach you how to run interventions and support pupils by working with a class teacher. The successful candidate will: • Have a very good standard of literacy and numeracy (GCSE English and Mathematics). • Have NVQ3 or equivalent qualifications. • Have previous experience of working with children with a variety of needs. • Have a positive attitude to working with young people. • Be willing to put the needs of the children first. • Be keen to give the best possible service to our pupils and their families. • Be able to work as part of a team yet at times have the confidence and skills to use own initiative. • Have a clear knowledge and understanding of the principles and practice of Key Stage 2 curriculum. • Be extremely patient, adaptable, willing to learn.
