    Admissions Policy for Accrington Academy Preamble: 1. This document sets out the proposed arrangements for Accrington Academy, throughout this document referred to as “the Academy”. These arrangements are without prejudice to the provisions of Annex B to the Master Agreement. The document forms an annex to the Supplemental Agreement between United Learning Trust (‘ULT’) and the Secretary of State. References in this document to “parents” include guardians and carers. 2. The Academy will comply with all relevant provisions of the statutory codes on admissions (the School Admissions Code and the School Admission Appeals Code of Practice) as they apply at any given time to maintained schools and with the law on admissions as it applies to maintained schools. Reference in the codes to admission authorities shall be deemed to be references to ULT. References to “the LA” shall be deemed to be references to Lancashire County Council and references to “the Admissions Forum” to be to the Lancashire admissions Forum. In particular, the Academy will take part in the Admissions Forum set up by the LA and have regard to its advice; and will participate in the co-ordinated admission arrangements operated by the LA. 3. Notwithstanding these arrangements, the Secretary of State may direct the Academy to admit a named pupil to the Academy on application from an LA. Before doing so the Secretary of State will consult the Academy. Admission Arrangements to be Approved by Secretary of State 4. The admission arrangements for the Academy, subject to any changes approved by the Secretary of State, are: a) The Academy has an agreed admission number of 200 students.

Although parents have the right to express a preference for the school that they wish their child to attend, there is no guarantee of a place being offered at their preferred school. It is the County Council’s policy to try and meet parents’ wishes where possible, however in some cases there may be more applications for a particular school than there are places available. Admission to oversubscribed community and voluntary controlled schools are determined by the oversubscription criteria detailed below. Oversubscription Criteria If the total number of preferences for admission to a school exceeds the school’s Published Admission Number (PAN), the following order of priority is used to allocate the available places. (N.B., after applying the oversubscription criteria, where an applicant can be offered a place at more than one preferred school then they will be offered a place at the school ranked highest on their application.) 1) Children in Care and children who ceased to be in care because they were adopted (or became subject to a residence order or special guardianship order).

Pupils arrive between 45mins/60mins before doors open and will be directed to studio 2 Security will be present and may ask to see tickets or check bags. Concert A performers and audience arrive from 10.30 onwards Concert B performers and audience arrive from 12.40 onwards Concert C performers and audience arrive from 15.30 onwards Concert D performers and audience arrive from 17.30 onwards This will be used as a holding area 30 minutes before for each concert. Abbey Road will supply refreshments and put on a film about Abbey Road. In this iconic ‘Beatle’ studio you will find old mixing desks, equipment and the ‘Lady Madonna’ piano. Pupils and parents will be able to explore and have photographs taken. This studio is where the Beatles recorded 80% of their music. It will give performers and audience a chance to relax before the concert takes place in studio 1. A cloak room will also be made available for bags and coats.

It describes admission arrangements for our primary and secondary schools. The Guide contains general information on education in Middlesbrough and lists each of the schools in the Local Authority (LA), together with admission arrangements, including the type of school, and the maximum number of places normally available in each school year. You are entitled to express a preference as to which primary or secondary school you want your child to attend. Details of how to do this are given in the booklet. Each school produces a prospectus. This contains information of a general nature about the day to day running of the school, including details of the admissions policy agreed by the school and the LA or Governing Body. Sandra Muir Headteacher Year 7 Artwork Year 7 art with Miss Townsend Year 7 have been developing their art skills, particularly using pen shading techniques to create bold designs. Over half term, pupils were asked to copy the work of an artist who uses these same techniques in their work. These are some of the amazing art pieces that were handed in. Well done!
