New half inch Corten steel keel: 7,800 pounds with seventeen 1 1/4” keel bolts, 12” tall. The entire center-cockpit deck with doghouse cabin was removed. Only 14” of side deck was left to be shelf below. A school group looks on. Looking aft - Deck and internal bulkheads removed leaving 14” of side deck. Freeboard was raised. New frames going in, all bulkheads were removed later. Clamps installed, laminated cypress deck beams going in. Thorough USCG passenger vessel Inspection process. USCG inspecting fuel tank installation under lower bunk. Fire suppression bottle protects tank space. Looking aft through forward companionway ladder. Two head doors to starboard, galley to port.
