Will the Minister of DEFENCE be pleased to state: (a) the details of Defence Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) of the country, State / UT-wise including Tamil Nadu;
(b) the details of profit / loss incurred by these Defence PSUs during each of the last three years and the current year;
(c) whether certain Defence PSUs are incurring losses; and
(d) if so, the details thereof along with the corrective measures being taken or proposed to be taken by the Government in this regard? Answer

(a) Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) involved in manufacturing and production of defence equipment / weapons, components and high strength materials are Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL), Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd. (GRSE), Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL), BEML Ltd (BEML), Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) and Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited (MIDHANI). (c) & (d): Yes, Madam. HSL is incurring losses since 2011-12. The following corrective measures have been taken / proposed by the Government for revival of HSL:-
(i) To increase the number of orders placed on the company. (ii) A fresh financial restructuring plan. (iii) HSL has been allowed to take commercial Ship orders. (iv) Feasibility of off-loading / outsourcing of work from other DPSU yards to HSL. ******
