Be sure to take a scenic floatplane tour. This is a true Red Lake experience- Norseman Floatplane rides are offered at the annual Norseman Festival for a small charge or consider booking a fly-in dinner at one of the area’s many fishing resorts.

Visit the Red Lake Regional Heritage Centre to get a glimpse at the area’s heritage. Exhibits on mining, trading, floatplane and aboriginal heritage give you a real sense of what Red Lake was like ‘way back when’. Red Lake Trivia: In 1936, Howey Bay was the busiest airport in the world; From 1930 to present there have been 26 different mine sites developed mined in the ar- ea. New areas continue to be explored. Newmont-Goldcorp Canada Ltd. is one of the world's leading gold producers; If you drive as far north as you can travel on Ontario’s Provincial Highway System, you will find yourself at the ferry dock in Cochenour; Red Lake is the Norseman Floatplane capital of the world; There have been two Hudson's Bay Posts in the area: one from 1825 to 1925 at Post Narrows, and one from 1925 to 1933 at Johnson's Point.

Boating & Explore the many bays, rivers & shorelines: pull the kids on a tube, Water Sports strap on water-skis, have a picnic on a rocky point, or pull into a sandy beach for a swim.

Red Lake is well serviced by a variety of Primary Health Services. The local Hospital, the Family Health Team, and the Health Unit are able to respond to all basic health care needs and immediate concerns here in the community. If specialist services are required, patients are referred to larger centres and, in most cases, travel grants are provided. Some specialists do service the community periodically. Air Medi- vac is used to respond to medical emergencies that cannot be addressed locally. Telehealth is a free and confidential phone service you can call to get health advise from a Registered Nurse.

GARBAGE AND RECYCLING COLLECTION Garbage and recycling collection in the Municipality of Red Lake is managed by Chukuni Sanitation.

Are there artistic opportunities for adults? Red Lake has a very active arts community. The Wilderness Entertainment Series brings performers to town throughout the year. Patricia Players is a performance art group that performs once or twice each year.
