As an Early Childhood Professional, you will be able to care for and educate children in a variety of settings. Macomb’s Early Childhood Studies Program prepares you to work with and on behalf of young children as a teacher, teacher assistant, child caregiver or center director.

Earn the Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential To apply for the CDA Credential, the student must be currently working in an early childhood setting. A Child Development Associate is an individual who has successfully completed a CDA assessment based on their demonstration of ability to meet CDA competency goals. Candidates must have completed at least 120 clock hours (9 credit hours) of education in the competency areas. The CDA is awarded through a national organization: The Council for Professional Recognition.
