8 special appreciation

I spent nine very rewarding years at The Cable Center. I was mentored, inspired, supported and given some pretty terrific opportunities that helped build my skills and career by two amazing and dedicated women. Jana Henthorn My boss for those nine years was Jana Henthorn. We worked really hard, and laughed even President and CEO harder. She made sure of that. Diane Christman joined the organization a few years later. The Cable Center Bonding over common goals (and the love of all things fashion), happened rather quickly. We were off to new adventures with our academic community and solid media connections, while strategizing on new relationships that would take us to the next level.

I’m most appreciative of The Cable Center leadership for consistently supporting students and education, specifically in the cable industry. They’ve been a One Day Immersion partner since its launch in 2012, and this year, The Cable Center is our Presenting Sponsor. That’s major!

My advice to the students today is, ALWAYS do your best to work really hard EVERYDAY, Diane Christman and build a reputation of trust and excellence. You never know when an opportunity to work SVP Programs together again will occur, and when it does, its win-win for both partners. and Development The Cable Center Thank you, Jana and Diane for standing by me, and this very special conference. Your unwavering support has been helping to connect some fabulous executives with tomorrow’s leaders.

The ODI Scholars program is spearheaded by Cable Pioneers and industry benefactors, Zenita Henderson, Director, Marketing Operations & Business Development, Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE / ISBE), ODI Executive Committee member, and Matt Aden, retired cable industry sales executive. Henderson and Aden helped to create the program with their vision of driving diversity and 5 x $100 encouraging college students to seek STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) careers in the cable telecommunications industry. Last year, we launched an essay contest.

This year, we have provided travel stipends to help students attend the event, and experience their first ODI in person. As mentioned previously, we will also award five students $100 today. That’ll buy a month’s worth of your favorite Starbucks or my favorite chicken platter from the Halal $Guys cart on 53rd & 6th.
