Introduction It is the 51st Millennium, and the war continues. There was no great conflagration or calamitous final battle. Across the vastness of the galaxy, the Imperium died. Not with a bang, but with a whimper. The galactic empire of humanity crumbled, its enemies too many, too great and too terrible to imagine. The great conflict of Octavius had no victory, a war without end. In the fiery chasm of strife, the locust and the green holocaust fused, as beast looked upon barbarian and both saw the other as kin. The new entity spread with a speed undreamt of by ork or tyranid. War and hunger melded into a singular desire to ravage, rape and remake all in the image of the new devourer. The Devourer’s hybrid nightmares were regenerative, and spore-born, combining into a grand horror, which murdered the galaxy, leaving naught but fragments as it left. Metallic sentinels of unflinching dread rose up on some worlds, leaving them safe from the new devourer waaagh, but instead made them slaves to the silver sentinels, and fodder for their glowing metal gods. The Eldar who had held on to life for so long, slowly winked out of existence one craftworld at a time. Eventually, even the rumbling hearts of the avatars fell silent. For a time... In the dead craftworlds, something slithers through the infinity circuit to this day. Unfortunately, the great god of the dead, Ynnead, is trapped within this infinity circuit, howling its mournful song into the darkness, eternally hungry in its desire to wreak vengeance on She Who Thirsts. -

Once again, we will have three shows in each of the four disciplines of Dressage, Showjumping, Ridden & In-Hand and Working Hunter. The Mini One Day event and the Winter Dressage are included in the schedule once again along with the Sponsored Ride, and this year we are running a Pony Party fundraiser in aid of Friezland Arena alongside the STARS Gala Point Show. Instruction will continue to be provided. Dressage clinics and ShowJumping clinics and practises may also feature in this year's activities (check the club website, the clubs Facebook page and your email inbox for updates). -

Eclectic Horseman Issue #79 Sept/Oct- 4/1 Can you have a Ranch Horse and a Dressage Horse? Over the course of the last ten to fifteen years I have had the amazing good fortune to get to know and study with one our current Master Horsemen, Ms. Bettina Drummond. As a student of Nuno Oliveria, a scholar in the subject of Classical Dressage, and a perpetual seeker of a deep relationship with her horses, Bettina’s knowledge is unequalled. In 2012 she came out West with her Quarterhorse stallion to acquaint him with his “Western” heritage and to further her study of the comparisons between Classical Dressage and true Vaquero traditions and training. I had a marvelous time riding the mountains of eastern Oregon, playing with cows, and having long discussions with Bettina in comparing our western horsemanship jobs and relationships with our horses with her background in true Classical Dressage. One of my over-arching goals was to seek an answer to the question of whether or not I could bring along my horses to accomplish the jobs necessary on the ranch, but still adhere to the principles of the Classical Dressage training scale. (i.e. Note these aspects vary slightly in order and have different interpretations given differences in languages: Rhythm, Suppleness/Relaxation, Contact, Straightness, Engagement/Impulsion, and Collection) See articles regarding use of the Training Scale at: www.tnthorsemanship.com/articles Now I am by no means a scholar regarding the bio-mechanics required of the horse/human team to accomplish any job on the ranch or on the dressage court. -

When I open my eyes, I'm floating in the air in an inky, black void. The air feels cold to the touch, my body shivering as I instinctively hugged myself. My first thought was that this was an awfully vivid nightmare and that someone must have left the AC on overnight. I was more than a little alarmed when I wasn't quite waking up, and that pinching myself had about the same amount of pain as it would if I did it normally. A single star twinkled into existence in the empty void, far and away from reach. Then another. And another. Soon, the emptiness was full of shining stars, and I found myself staring in wonder. I had momentarily forgotten about the biting cold at this breath-taking sight before a wooden door slammed itself into my face, making me fall over and land on a tile ground. I'm pretty sure that wasn't there before. Also, OW. Standing up and not having much better to do, I opened the door. Inside was a room with several televisions stacked on top of each other, with a short figure wrapped in a blanket playing on an old NES while seven different games played out on the screen. They turned around and looked at me, blinking twice with a piece of pocky in their mouth. I stared at her. She stared back at me. Then she picked up a controller laying on the floor and offered it to me. "Want to play?" "So you've been here all alone?" I asked, staring at her in confusion, holding the controller as I sat nearby. -
