Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, all programs, properties, events, and related specifications are subject to change in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations. The plan can be found here: https://www.usef.org/media/coronavirus-resources. Everyone on show grounds will be required to sign a waiver at time of check-in and wear a wristband. ENTRY INFORMATION Entries close April 17, 2021. POST ENTRIES: Any entries receiving a postmark after April 17, 2021, will be charged a one-time $35 post entry fee. Any entries received after May 1, 2021, will be charged a one-time $60 post entry fee. ▪ All entries must be completed on an official entry form for this show and have attached a valid check, money order, or printed PayPal receipt for the total amount of appropriate fees; otherwise, the entry will not be accepted. DO NOT SEND OPEN OR POST DATED CHECKS. ▪ The complete and correct name and address of the registered owner must appear in the space entitled Owner Information. A horse may only be entered under the legal name of the owner. A stable or farm may be named as Owner only if stable/farm has both an AHA & USEF membership number. ▪ A copy of the horse registration papers must accompany entry, showing the legal owner of the horse. If registration papers do not reflect current legal owner, additional paperwork is required—however, horses without registration papers reflecting current legal owner may not be shown in Amateur Owner or Junior Owner classes without proper sale documentation. ▪ A copy of a current AHA Competition Card and current USEF Membership must accompany entry. If these (or horse registration papers) are not provided, the entry is considered incomplete and may be subject to the applicable post-entry fee. ▪ Leased horses may not show in “owner” classes unless the lessee and lessor are members of the same immediate family. ▪ In addition to entries of persons suspended or expelled from the USEF or AHA, a recognized competition may refuse any entry of an exhibitor or the participation of any agent, trainer, rider, driver or handler who has shown an objectionable attitude toward a recognized competition or previous unsportsmanlike behavior at a recognized competition or its management. REFUNDS Official notice must be received by the Show Secretary prior to the Entry Closing Deadline of April 17, 2021, if any entry is to be withdrawn. Otherwise, no refund will be paid except those with a licensed vet statement. ▪ Withdrawals approved by a vet are honored if received in the Show Office by 6:00 PM on Thursday May 6, 2021. If so, class entry fees only will be refunded—there will be no refund on stall, office, or other fees, except the 9-90 fee,

    A retrospective case-control study to investigate horse and jockey level risk factors associated with horse falls in Irish Point-to-Point races L. J. Smith, G. Tabor and J. Williams Abstract Horse racing as a high-risk sport can pose a significant risk to equine welfare. To date there have been limited epidemiological reviews of fall risk specific to point-to-point racing. This study aimed to identify horse and jockey level risk factors associated with horse falls and to compare these to published findings for Hurdle and Steeplechase racing. The study used a retrospective matched case-control design. Relevant variables were identified and information was collated for all races in the 2013/14 and 2014/15 seasons. Cases and controls were matched with a 1:3 ratio. Controls (n=2,547) were selected at random from all horses that completed in the same race (n=849). Horse and jockey level variables were analysed through univariable analysis to inform multivariable model building. A final matched case- control multivariable logistic regression model was refined, using fall/no fall as the dependent variable, through a backward stepwise process. Horse age was associated with an increased risk of horse falls. For every 1 unit increase in age there was a 1.2 times increased risk of falling. The overall number of races ran within 12 months was associated with a decreased risk of falling. The jockeys previous seasons percentage wins was associated with the risk of horse falls with jockeys who had 0-4% wins and 5-9% wins having an increase in risk compared to those who had over 20% wins/runs.

One of the goals was also to examine the current status of equestrian tourism in Finland, as well as the use of the Finn- horse in equestrian tourism services. Improvement suggestions were created based on research about Irish equestrian tourism as well as the Irish Draught Horse and the Irish Sport Horse. There was no commissioner for the thesis. The topic arose from personal interest in equestrian tourism and the growing importance of the Finnhorse as part of the industry. The first part of the thesis comprises the theoretical background. It includes different aspects of eques- trian tourism in Finland and in Ireland. The current status of equestrian tourism in Finland and the safety guidelines created by the Finnish Consumer Agency are discussed in detail. The history, current status, and different usages of the Finnhorse are discussed. Also the Irish Draught Horse and the Irish Sport Horse as Irish horse breeds are elaborated. The second part is the empirical part. It gives suggestions for improving equestrian tourism in Finland and increasing the use of the Finnhorse in tourism related services. The suggestions are based on strat- egies and actions implemented by different organizations in Ireland.

    List of horse breeds 1 List of horse breeds This page is a list of horse and pony breeds, and also includes terms used to describe types of horse that are not breeds but are commonly mistaken for breeds. While there is no scientifically accepted definition of the term "breed,"[1] a breed is defined generally as having distinct true-breeding characteristics over a number of generations; its members may be called "purebred". In most cases, bloodlines of horse breeds are recorded with a breed registry. However, in horses, the concept is somewhat flexible, as open stud books are created for developing horse breeds that are not yet fully true-breeding. Registries also are considered the authority as to whether a given breed is listed as Light or saddle horse breeds a "horse" or a "pony". There are also a number of "color breed", sport horse, and gaited horse registries for horses with various phenotypes or other traits, which admit any animal fitting a given set of physical characteristics, even if there is little or no evidence of the trait being a true-breeding characteristic. Other recording entities or specialty organizations may recognize horses from multiple breeds, thus, for the purposes of this article, such animals are classified as a "type" rather than a "breed". Over the course of the last ten to fifteen years I have had the amazing good fortune to get to know and study with one our current Master Horsemen, Ms. Bettina Drummond. As a student of Nuno Oliveria, a scholar in the subject of Classical Dressage, and a perpetual seeker of a deep relationship with her horses, Bettina’s knowledge is unequalled. In 2012 she came out West with her Quarterhorse stallion to acquaint him with his “Western” heritage and to further her study of the comparisons between Classical Dressage and true Vaquero traditions and training. I had a marvelous time riding the mountains of eastern Oregon, playing with cows, and having long discussions with Bettina in comparing our western horsemanship jobs and relationships with our horses with her background in true Classical Dressage. One of my over-arching goals was to seek an answer to the question of whether or not I could bring along my horses to accomplish the jobs necessary on the ranch, but still adhere to the principles of the Classical Dressage training scale.
