ACCOMMODATION IN TORNIO
Lapland University of applies sciences doesn´t have a dormi- tory. The apartments are rented by Tornion Krunni. Students are responsible for paying the rents to the housing providers.
The accommodation is located within a 0.5 km radius of the Lapland UAS education units. You will have your own room and share kitchen and a bathroom/shower with two other stu- dents. The apartments are furnished. Free laundry facilities are available. Electricity, heating, water and internet connec- tion are included in the rent.
Applying the apartment You need to apply the apartment beforehand. Fill in the application for accommodation in Tornio and return it to the housing office:

Rental agreement and rent
After arriving you need to make a rental agreement with the housing office as soon as possi- ble. The rent is about 300 €/month/ student. Rent has to be paid monthly. You need to pay the first month rent and the rent deposit within a week of student’s arrival to the apartment. Deposit rent is one month’s rent, which will be returned to you when leaving if there are no claims. Deposit rent covers possible accidental damage to the property, unpaid rent and re- placement of keys/locks when keys are lost or not returned. Remember to give your bank account information to the housing company before your departure.

HOW YOU CAN REACH HERE…
Tornio is situated in the northern part of Finland. If you are travelling to Finland by air you most likely land at Helsinki-Vantaa International Airport.
The distance between Helsinki and Tornio is 700 kilometers. From Helsinki you need to con- tinue your travel first to Kemi. Tornio is about 30 kilometers from Kemi.
FROM HELSINKI TO KEMI
By flying The quickest and easiest way to reach your final destination is to take a domestic flight from Helsinki-Vantaa to Kemi-Tornio Airport. The flight will take about 1, 5 hours. All scheduled flights from Helsinki to Kemi-Tornio: http://www.finnair.com/
By train Also from Helsinki Railway Station you can take a day or a night train to Kemi. Travelling by train from Helsinki to Kemi takes 8 –10 hours. Notice that it is easier to travel if you take a straight connection to Kemi without changing trains on your way. From the Helsinki-Vantaa airport you can take a Finnair airport bus, a public service bus or a taxi to the center of the city where the main train station is. FROM KEMI TO TORNIO
If you arrive to Kemi-Tornio airport you need to book a taxi to take you to Tornio. The taxi from Kemi-Tornio airport to Tornio costs 60 €. The taxi will take you straight to your apart- ment in Tornio.
If you arrive to Kemi railway station you can take a bus or a taxi to Tornio. Taxi and bus station is about 200 meters from the railway station. A taxi from Kemi to Tornio will cost around 60 €. The bus will cost around 7 €.
