FINDING RECORDS OF YOUR ANCESTORS, PART A FINLAND Before 1900 Beginning Finnish researchers will also need: Genealogical Word List: Finnish (35815) and Genealogical Word List: Swedish (31028). Finnish Lutheran records were uniformly kept in Swedish until the late 1800s. The transition from Swedish to Finnish was done at a different time for each parish, and many parishes still use only Swedish. Translated words in this guide are given as follows: Finnish/Swedish. If your ancestor lived in Finland in 1900 or before, follow the steps in this booklet to find the records of his or her family. These instructions will show you which records to search, what to look for, and what tools to use. One piece of information will lead to another until you have identified each family member and filled out a family group record. Find your ancestor’s birth 1 in church records. Find your ancestor and his 2 or her siblings in preconfir- mation records. (If preconfir- mation records are not avail- able, skip to step 3.) Find your ancestor’s parents 3 2 in communion records. 1 3 5 4 Find the birth record for 4 your ancestor’s siblings. Find the marriage record for 5 your ancestor’s parents. In 1998 EEA published Guidelines for the implementation of the EUROWATERNET monitoring network for inland waters. In every Member Country a monitoring network should be designed according to these Guidelines and put into operation. Together these national networks will form the EUROWATERNET monitoring network that will provide information on the quantity and quality of European inland waters. In the future they will be developed to meet the requirements of the EU Water Framework Directive. This publication presents the Finnish EUROWATERNET monitoring network put into operation from the first of January, 2000. It includes a total of 195 river sites, 253 lake sites and 74 hydrological baseline sites. Groundwater monitoring network will be developed later. In addition, information about Finnish water resources and current monitoring strategies is given. The annual review and the financial statements of the parent company of the Group are prepared in accordance with the Finnish Accounting Act as well as the guidelines and statements of the Finnish Accounting Standards Board. The information on personnel is based on the calculation systems used by human resource management, and the calculation of the rel- evant information is in compliance with the general guidelines of the Finnish Accounting Stand- ards Board concerning the preparation annual reviews. The environmental data is collected from the information reported to the authorities and from the company’s own data compilation systems. An external emissions trading verifier has verified our carbon dioxide emission report. In other re- spects, the corporate responsibility information has not been verified. Sustainability reporting covers the economic, social and environmental impacts of Fingrid Group’s own operations in 2011. We apply the international GRI G3.0 (Global Reporting Initiative) report- ing guidelines for the first time to our sustainability reporting.
