Epistle Reading: St. Paul’s Second Letter to the Galatians 2:16-20

Prokeimenon Mode 4 O Lord, Your works shall be magnified greatly; You made all things in wisdom. Verse: Bless the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, You are magnified exceedingly.

Brethren, you know that a man is not justified by works of the law but through faith in , even we have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ, and not by works of the law, because by works of the law shall no one be justified. But if, in our endeavor to be justified in Christ, we ourselves were found to be sinners, is Christ then an agent of sin? Certainly not! But if I build up again those things which I tore down, then I prove myself a transgressor. For I through the law died to the law, that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Gospel Reading: The According to Luke 10:25-37 At that time, a lawyer stood up to put Jesus to the test, saying, "Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" He said to him, "What is written in the law? How do you read?" And he answered, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself." And he said to him, "You have answered right; do this, and you will live." But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?" Jesus replied, "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him, and departed, leaving him half dead. Now by chance a priest was going down that road; and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was; and when he saw him, he had compassion, and went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; then he set him on his own beast and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. And the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, 'Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.' Which of these three, do you think, proved neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?" He said, "The one who showed mercy on him." And Jesus said to him, "Go and do likewise."

Response to First Antiphon Through the intercessions of the Theotokos, Savior, save us. (3) (Liturgy Book page 25)

Third Antiphon

The joyful news of Your resurrection was proclaimed by the to the women disciples. Having thrown off the curse that fell on Adam, they ran elatedly to tell the apostles: Death has been vanquished; Christ our God is risen from the dead, blessing all the world with His great mercy. (Liturgy Book page 111) Entrance Hymn Come, let us worship and bow down before Christ. Save us, O Son of God, who rose from the dead, save us who sing to You: Alleluia. (Liturgy Book page 37)

Hymn for the Church

O God-minded Anna, you bore the pure Mother of God, the one who within her conceived the Conceiver of life itself. You were therefore transported to a place now in heaven. Joyful ones all reside there in the home of all gladness, asking for forgiveness for those who honor you. O blessed one.

Kontakion

Behold the temple of the Savior, His precious bridal chamber. Behold the virginal and sacred vessel of God’s glory. Today she enters into the house of the Lord, bearing within her the grace of the Holy Spirit. For this the exclaim: She is indeed the heavenly tabernacle. (Liturgy Book page 237)

Megalynarion (Hymn for the Theotokos)

It is truly right to call you blessed O Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure and the mother, the mother of our God. More hon’rable than the cherubim and more glorious beyond compare than the seraphim. In virginity you gave birth to God, to God the word. Truly the Theotokos, we magnify you, we magnify you. (Liturgy Book page 69)

NEW CHURCH BUILDING UPDATES:

Construction Update: On November 3, 2019, the Parish Assembly unanimously approved plans and a budget for the construction of a temporary worship space in our newly acquired building located at 9201 S. 1300 East, Sandy. Pursuant to the approved plans, a temporary worship space will be constructed in the southern half of the building, in the area where previous services and social events have been held. Construction will include a dedicated narthex space, as well as an altar similar to what exists in our current worship space at St. Thomas More. The approved construction plan has been developed to minimize waste, and will include a permanent wall that will be incorporated to the long-range building plan. Construction has also been planned to allow significant recycling of building materials as we proceed with future phases of construction. The northern end of the building will be utilized for fellowship, community gatherings, ministry team meetings, etc. We plan to use existing walls and temporary partitions to create dedicated Sunday School spaces, and will make use of the existing kitchenette, offices and restrooms pending future phases of construction. Construction is expected to commence the week of November 11, 2019, and should be completed by the end of the year.

First Liturgy - February 2, 2020: As announced at the Parish Assembly this past Sunday, our first liturgy in the new building has been scheduled for Sunday, February 2, 2020, to coincide with The Presentation of our Lord and Savior in the Temple. We cannot think of a more fitting day for our parish to enter and first use our new temple. His Eminence Metropolitan Isiah has agreed to visit our parish and be with us for this historical day. We will start with Orthros in our current worship space at St. Thomas More. We will then process as a community, led by His Eminence and local Clergy, from our current location to our new building, each car physically transporting a liturgical item from our rented space to our new parish home. Upon arriving at the new building, there will be an "opening of the doors" service, and then process into our new church for a Hierarchical Liturgy. It is sure to be a blessed, memorable, and historic day!

As we move forward, we need to continue to provide funds to help us remodel our new church. A very inexpensive either weekly or monthly donation to the Coffee vs Cash Campaign is available for you to donate the cost of a cup of coffee a week toward the campaign. This will add up over the year and help our building committee remodel our new church building.

We will have a bunch of new opportunities for everyone to share their time and talent as we begin the process of moving into our new church.

The Capital Campaign Committee will be reaching out to individuals, companies, and corporations to donate building materials. As the ambassadors for St Anna, please contact members of the Capital Campaign committee with anyone you know who might be able to donate building materials to our church. We would be happy to talk to potential donors.

The Capital Campaign Committee is always available to answer any questions you may have. Please contact the committee directly or email us at [email protected]
