THE SAINT HOLY TRINITY ORTHODOX CHURCH NICHOLAS PROJECT: Yonkers, New York

HELP MAKE A MERRIER CHRISTMAS FOR TWO SEMINARIAN FAMILIES!

Our Parish is participating again this year in the St. Nicholas Project. We will be “adopting” two seminarian families and providing them with gifts in the spirit of generosity and love exemplified by the beloved of Myra.

We will be taking up a collection over the next 3 weeks (Nov. 10, 17 and 24) for the purchase of gifts, in anticipation of giving them on or around St. Nicholas Day, Dec. 6. Family gifts will generally be in the form of gift cards for the purchase of books and everyday items such as clothing and groceries. There are specific wish lists for the seminarians’ children, whose ages are listed below. Please see, call, or e-mail Suzanne Nolan (914 522- 4372, [email protected]) if you would like to participate in buying or shopping for these gifts. TODAY’S EPISTLE Galatians 1:11-19 Brethren: I make known to you, brethren, that the THIS EVENING, 8:00 PM: gospel which was preached by me is not according to man.12For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ.13For you have heard of LISTEN ONLINE or CALL IN my former conduct in Judaism, how I persecuted the church of God beyond measure and tried to destroy it.14And I advanced in Judaism beyond many of my contemporaries in my own at ANCIENT FAITH RADIO! nation, being more exceedingly zealous for the traditions of my fathers.15But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb and called me through His grace,16to reveal His Son in me, that I might preach Him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately confer with flesh and blood,17nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me; but I went to Arabia, and returned again to Damascus.18Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and remained with him fifteen days.19But I saw none of the other apostles except James, the Lord’s brother. TODAY’S GOSPEL Luke 10:25-37 At that time, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Jesus, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”26He said to him, “What is written in the law? What is your reading of it?”27So he answered and said, “’You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’ “28And He said to him, “You have answered rightly; do this and you will live.”29But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”30Then Jesus answered and said: “A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.31Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.32Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side.33But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion.34So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.35On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.’36So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?37And he said, “He who showed mercy on him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.” POINTS OF INTEREST… SAVE THE DATES… • Tue-Wed 11/12-13 DIOCESAN ASSEMBLY & CLERGY EDUCATION SEMINAR, HERE AT HTOC.
