Sunday 25th July 2021 .Trinity 8 6pm St Mary’s, Frittenden Holy Communion (BCP) Merciful God, whose holy apostle Saint James, leaving his father and all that he had, was obedient to the calling of your Son Jesus Christ and followed him even to death: help us, forsaking the false attractions of the world, to be ready at all times to answer your call without delay; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen . Opening: Eternal Father, strong to save (A&M 623/MP 122)

The Lesson: - A song of ascents

1 When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dreamed. 2 Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, ‘The Lord has done great things for them.’ 3 The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy. 4 Restore our fortunes, Lord, like streams in the Negev. 5 Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy. 6 Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them. Amen

The : 2 Corinthians 4:7-15

The : Matthew 20:20-28

Called to serve: Bishop Rose

After Sermon: Be still for the presence (A&M 358)

1. Amazing grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now am found, was blind, but now I see.

2. 'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, and grace my fears relieved; how precious did that grace appear the hour I first believed!

3. Through many dangers, toils and snares I have already come: 'tis grace has brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home.

4. The Lord has promised good to me, his word my hope secures; he will my shield and portion be as long as life endures. John Newton 1779 From Pete & the Wardens: Face - Space - Grace Dear Friends, yes we’re in uncharted waters, but Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever… Our priorities at this time: safety and singing! Taking everything into account, we feel it wise through our August services to encourage continued wearing of a face-covering, along with distancing where possible, and hand sanitising. Please share with us any concerns or constructive comments directly as we keep this under review. Let’s keep striving to be gracious and show one another respect, particularly where we have differing views. A huge thanks for your understanding and prayers.
