Before that he was inter alia director of the Netherlands Institute of Human Rights (SIM) and Director of the Netherlands School of Human Rights Research. His research interests include the United Nations system of human rights, human rights and foreign policy, public international law and (comparative) constitutional law, gender and human rights.
