Website for Exchange students: www.helsinki.fi/exchange

Courses taught in English: www.helsinki.fi/english/courses

Excellent website. Many courses - multiple subjects offered under the Faculty/Department headings. Some of the subjects are offered in both sessions and some are particular to either Autumn or Spring. PLEASE check on the clear and comprehensive web page for each faculty where I have not indicated the term in which the subject is taught.

There is also a Helsinki Summer School (www.helsinki.fi/summerschool).

The Web page for Helsinki reads as follows:

Courses in English - University of Helsinki

Academic year 2009-2010

This page is a starting point of access to information about the courses that are offered in English at the University of Helsinki.

These pages deal not only with courses taught entirely in English, but also with courses that are taught only partly in English or that may be offered in English if demand arises. It also covers language courses particularly designed or suitable for international students. The courses have mostly been organised according to faculty and subdivided according to discipline. When any of the course details have not been indicated, contact the appropriate department or the International Affairs Co-ordinator of the faculty for more detailed information.

In the majority of cases non-degree students (scholarship holders and exchange students) have non-restricted access to courses within their own subject and most of the other courses given in English, but sometimes restrictions may apply when the student attempts to take courses in subjects other than their own. More detailed information concerning the rights of exchange students and other non-degree students to participate in courses is best obtained from the International Affairs Co-ordinator at the appropriate faculty.
