Alhamdulillahirobbil'alamin, puji syukur saya panjatkan kehadirat Allah SWT, atas segala limpahan rahmat dan karunia-Nya kepada kita semua, sehingga sampai saat ini masih selalu terjaga dalam Iman dan Islam. Dan atas rahmat-Nya pula akhirnya Tugas Akhir ini dapat diselesaikan tepat pada waktunya. Sebagai salah satu syarat untuk meneyelesaikan jenjang studi S1 pada Jurusan Teknik Arsitektur, Fakultas Teknik Sipil dan Perencanaan, Universitas Islam Indonesia, diwajibkan untuk menyusun Tugas Akhir yang dipertahankan di depan tim penguji. Tugas Akhir ini mengambil judul "TAMAN BACA DAN REKREASI KRIDOSONO, dengan penekanan pada penataan fasilitas Taman baca dan rekreasi dengan pendekatan Arsitektur kolonial." Sedangkan kekerasan adalah lambang dari kematian. Suatu kota yang hanya sarat dijejali dengan beton, besi, baja, batu dan bata yang serba keras, tidak dilengkapi dengan ruang terbuka dari penghijauan yang mencerminkan kelembutan, berarti sudah dekat dengan ambang kematian. Sebaliknya kota yang kaya dengan taman dan ruang terbuka, apalagi memiliki hutan kota, berarti kota yang menjanjikan kehidupan. Agak ironis apabila kota-kota di negeri tropis seperti Indonesia kurang

They have stayed and settled in area near each other that are now known as kampung Arab. Most kampung Arab in Indonesia show that Arabs had similar pattern in their way of settling. Surakarta, as the chosen location, has kampung Arab located at Pasar Kliwon. There are theories about how these kampung Arab, including Pasar Kliwon, were developed. The objective of this study is to explore the four theories of Kampung Arab Pasar Kliwon development factors and the chronological sequence of those factors. This study is a qualitative research that uses secondary analysis of the previous studies as its method. Data verification utilised triangulation method, using various approaches, such as observation, interview, and participatory mapping. All four theories are considered valid. Based on the history of Kampung Arab Pasar Kliwon development, the factors in chronological order are economic activities, community, keraton (imperial) government policy, and colonial government policy.     Degroot Candi, Space and Landscape A study on the distribution, orientation and spatial Candi, Space and Landscape organization of Central Javanese temple remains Central Javanese temples were not built anywhere and anyhow. On the con- trary: their positions within the landscape and their architectural designs were determined by socio-cultural, religious and economic factors. This book ex- plores the correlations between temple distribution, natural surroundings and architectural design to understand how Central Javanese people structured Candi, Space and Landscape the space around them, and how the religious landscape thus created devel- oped. Besides questions related to territory and landscape, this book analyzes the structure of the built space and its possible relations with conceptualized space, showing the influence of imported Indian concepts, as well as their limits. Going off the beaten track, the present study explores the hundreds of small sites that scatter the landscape of Central Java. It is also one of very few stud- ies to apply the methods of spatial archaeology to Central Javanese temples and the first in almost one century to present a descriptive inventory of the remains of this region. That summer, I made a trip to Indonesia to complete the writing of my BA dissertation. There, on the upper slopes of the ever-clouded Ungaran volcano, looking at the sulfurous spring that runs between the shrines of Gedong Songo, I experienced the genius loci of Central Javanese architects. After my BA, I did many things and had many jobs, not all of them being archaeology-related. Nevertheless, when I finally arrived in Leiden to enroll as a PhD student, the subject naturally imposed itself upon me. Here is the result, a thesis exploring the notion of space in ancient Central Java, from the lay-out of the temple plan to the interrelationship between built and natural landscape.

Research method used in this study is qualitative-explorative and using descriptive as analysis method. However, modernization often leaves no place for historical buildings that actually have important roles in shaping the characteristic of place. The aim of this research is to identify the typology or the types of colonial architecture buildings in Singaraja and its characteristics. This research used descriptive- qualitiative method. The data were collected through literature study, observation, and interview. The analysis was done through categorization based on the similarity of types, form, structure, and character of building. The result of this research shows that some of the architectural styles which exist in Singaraja are art deco style, landhuis style, and gothic style. In general, the typologies of colonial buildings in Singaraja are government building, residential building, public infrastructures, etc with relatively small in size and very adaptive to the climate and natural conditions in Indonesia, especially Singaraja.
