HARVEST APPEAL FOR FOOD BANK: THANK YOU What a wonderful amount of goods we were able to take to the Food Bank depot this week as a result of our appeal. Thank you so much to all those who made a contribution. It is so much appreciated by those of our neighbours who really do need this support. Sadly, our appeal is continuing as the number of people who need to use this facility is ever increasing. Have you wondered about becoming a regular donor, we wonder? Perhaps you could make a contribution to the yellow bins once a month or perhaps once a fortnight? We know that regular contributions would be so very helpful and help to continue the marvellous work of the Canterbury Food Bank. canterburyfoodbank.org

CHORISTER NEWS: One of our senior Choristers, Frederick Butler, will feature as a Finalist in the BBC Radio 2 Young Chorister of the Year competition on Saturday 19th October in Manchester. This is the second year in a row that Frederick has been in the Final and we wish him every success! This is also the sixth year in a row that a Canterbury boy has featured in this Final.

ALL SOULS’ DAY: If you would like the name of a loved one who has died to be included at the All Souls’ Sung Requiem at 5.30pm on Saturday 2nd November, please contact Hilary Fairhurst in the Precentor’s office, email [email protected], tel 01227 865281, or in writing to Cathedral House, 11 The Precincts, Canterbury, CT1 2EH (for the attention of Hilary Fairhurst), by Sunday 27th October.

CONGREGATIONAL LUNCHES: Many thanks to all those who have expressed their thoughts and appreciation of the congregational lunches. While they have not been cancelled completely, diminishing numbers and shortfall on costs has meant that the form and purpose of the lunches needs to be reviewed. We are grateful for your patience over this matter and would value your thoughts on the Harvest Lunch which is one possible way forward, please give any constructive comments to Canon Emma on 01227 865228 or [email protected].

CATHEDRAL PRECINCTS PARKING: It is good to see significant progress in the Canterbury Journey Landscaping project as well as the building of the new Welcome Centre. There continue to be restrictions on the number of car parks available in the Precincts. Parking for Cathedral Services will be on the main (Oaks) car park, but this is very limited and cannot be guaranteed. Once it is full, our Constables will guide congregation members to use public car parks. We would like to remind those who do find a space on the Oaks to remove their cars promptly afterwards to make room for others coming later. We ask for your understanding and particularly for your support to our Close Constables in making this work for everybody’s safety.
