Events and Skeet- Fouyr /Autumn 2019 She imbagh noa t’ayn. Welcome to the new Autumn term and welcome to Skeet, Mooinjer Veggey’s termly newsletter and a special welcome to all our new parents and children who have started at a Mooinjer Veggey Nursery this term.

Sleih ec ny possanyn /People at the groups. Manager Bnr. Adrienne Cowin, Assistant Bnr. Jane Arzt & Bnr. Keda Tastagh. Manager Bnr. Steph Leech decided not to return after Maternity leave and we wish her well for the future., We are delighted to say that Bnr. Kay Allen who covered for Steph’s Maternity leave has been appointed as the Manager.Assistants Bnr Sharon Christian, Keda Tastagh, Marion Faragher & Jane Arzt.I know they will make your child’s nursery a place where they can learn through play and have fun in doing so. Relief staff - we are always looking for people who would be available to cover on an occasional basis in the event of staff absence. Anyone qualified to level 3 would be especially welcome. If you know of anyone who might be interested, please ask them to contact the Nursery Manager.

Possan Cloie Our Manx language playgroup runs on Monday Mornings 9 - 10.30a.m. at The Methodist Hall in St.Johns for young children and their parents. See their fb page or contact Jen Hampton. 422428.

Curriglym/Curriculum This term’s themes include Mee hene (myself), S’mie lhiam (I like), Thie (House) Hop-tu-Naa, Laaghyn Feayr (Cold Days), Yn Oie (The night), Y Shapp (The shop), Oie Cheinjean (bonfirre night) , Emshyr (weather) and Nollick (Christmas).

Yn Vunscoill Ghaelgagh Mooinjer Veggey is contracted by the DESC to run the Bunscoill Ghaelgagh primary school in St Johns where all the lessons are taught through the medium of the Manx language. Supporting Mooinjer Veggey Mooinjer Veggey is a registered charity (No. 793) and we rely on support with fundraising events throughout the year. So a big Gura mie mooar eu to everyone who helped in any way with the fundraising events on Tynwald Day and at the Artisan Fair at Yn Chruinnaght. We raised £1,255. Also thanks To Dot Saunders and anyone who sponsored her Parish Walk this year, £500 was raised by Pobble (see their fb page for details), and donated to Mooinjer Veggey. Skeet Fouyr 2019 Mooinjer Veggey Uniforms: We will be putting an order in for MV Polo Shirts, Sweat Shirts and Cardigans in a couple of weeks time. Please pick up an order form from the Nursery if you would like to place an order.

Roie Mygearyt Children starting this year will have a gentle introduction into Manx language through songs and rhymes and by using the same phrases each session in the daily routines. Pre School Credits If you have not yet applied for your pre-school credit please do so as soon as possible. This festival may have been evolved and altered in response to external cultural influences (such as Hallow’een and Trick or Treat) but the traditional Manx way carries on. In times gone past it was called ‘Thump the door night’ when young fellows went around banging on peoples’ doors with cabbage or turnips. In recent times children went singing at doors for a penny – hence in the song ‘If you don’t give me a penny I’ll run away by the light of the moon’. Turnips (no pumpkins!) carved with pictures from the song such as bonnag, milk and a window are traditional and in Peel the stalks used as handles with a candle light inside.
