• This form of animation would be considered a sub-form of stop motion, where the creator takes a series of pictures or images of paper cut outs that are being repositioned or recreated to make a story • This form of animation can be considered one of the oldest forms of stop motion, and the first of it’s kind was “The Adventures of Prince Achmed” created in 1926 by Lotte Reiniger

• This form of animation is where sand is manipulated to create an animated story or movement • This form can be accomplished in 2 ways: • Stop motion • Live creation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBXSYvmaq5M PAINT ON GLASS ANIMATION

• This is a form of animation where the slow drying paints are used on a glass canvas, and this allows the to manipulate their different paintings and photograph them as they make changes to each image • This form can be extremely time consuming, because the creator has to completely repaint their entire image on the same panel of glass to create animation

• This is a very early form of animation dating back to 1916, where it involves scratching, etching directly on an exposed film wheel • This was a very affordable animation type because an animator really only needed 3 materials • Tools for etching • Role of film • Projector

• This animation type can be preformed using any method or combination of animating styles, but makes this animation form stand out is that the illusion of movement created, be it 2D or 3D, has a more abstract imagery projection rather than a specific story or purpose • Many consider this form to be more of a genre or style, but experimental have the common occurrence of flashing imagery and the use of many colors

• These forms of animation, though they are not commonly being used today, still portray the overall concept and fundamentals of animation, that being the illusion of movement and story telling through a created sequence of changing images or positions of models or figures projected on a film or movie • There are a number of reasons why these forms of animation are not so conventional as to the more common styles most people are aware of • Time constraints • Materials • Messy • However, these rarer animation types, when done accordingly and passionately, are all beautiful and interesting in each of their own ways, and can still create that “wow” factor regular animated films like from Disney and Pixar produce
