WELCOME MESSAGES

Message from the EGA President

The European Golf Association is most grateful to Swiss Golf and Golf Club du Domaine Impérial for hosting the 2020 European Mid-Amateur Men's and Ladies' Championships. I also extend my thanks to the members for making their superb golf course available for this championship.

All competitors will no doubt enjoy such a beautiful venue, and as always, friendships will be enhanced by the friendly rivalry which this event provides.

I wish all competitors a most happy and enjoyable championship!

A very warm welcome to all players and spectators to the European Mid-Amateur Championship 2020. It is a great honour to host this championship in Switzerland. The event will take place in the French- speaking part of our country and we thank Golf Domaine Impérial for organising it. The opportunity to see top European Mid-Amateurs competing here is both motivating and encouraging for us all.

We wish the players all the best and we hope that the players and the spectators have a wonderful and unforgettable time in Switzerland.

ABOUT SWITZERLAND

Some facts about Switzerland: Switzerland, officially the Swiss Confederation, is a federal republic in Europe. It consists of 26 cantons, and the city of is the seat of the federal authorities. The country is situated in Western-Central Europe, and is bordered by to the south, to the west, Germany to the north, and Austria and Liechtenstein to the east. Switzerland is a landlocked country geographically divided between the Alps, the and the Jura.

While the Alps occupy the greater part of the territory, the Swiss population of approximately eight million people is concentrated mostly on the plateau, where the largest cities are to be found: among them are the two global cities and economic centers and . There are four official languages in Switzerland, by order of importance German, French, Italian and Romansch. The currency used in Switzerland is the Swiss Franc (CHF).

The town of Gland is beautifully situated on the shores of , at the foot of the Jura, facing the Alps, halfway between Geneva and (each 30 kilometers away), 20 minutes from Geneva- Cointrin international airport. The golf course itself is to be found on the lakeshore south of the town, at an altitude of almost 400m.

THE VENUE

Golf Club du Domaine Impérial is situated on Lake Geneva, halfway between Geneva and Lausanne at 385 metres above sea-level. The name derives from the Napoleon family who once owned the historic club house which dates from the 19th century. The golf course is more recent, having been designed by the American architect Pete Dye in 1985 and opened in 1987. Many major events have been hosted here, including the International European Amateur Championship in 1997, the European Young Masters in 2015 and 2016, the Swiss International Championships in 1993, 2004 and 2017. The International European Mid-Amateur Championship was already hosted in 2007.

Other than the 18-hole golf course, Golf Club Domaine Impérial comprises a full range of services:

CHAMPIONSHIP INFORMATION

ENTRIES The entry forms can be found on the website of the European Golf Association (EGA). All entries and payments must be made via EGA: www.ega-golf.ch > Welcome > Entry Forms (registration deadline: 15.07.2020 at 5pm)

BAG STORAGE A golf bag storage is located at the Clubhouse. It is open daily from 6am to 7.30pm

PRACTICE FACILITIES A practice putting green, bunker practice, short game area and driving range (limited to 200m) are available close to the Clubhouse. Range balls are offered during the practice days and the championship. Pull-trolleys available: CHF 30.- for 5 days or CHF 10.- per day.

PRACTICE ROUNDS The official practice days are Tuesday August 4 and Wednesday August 5. Bookings for practice rounds will open on Tuesday 21 July. Please reserve your tee-time for the practice round directly at the golf club: phone +41 22 999 0 600 or email [email protected]

CATERING The Clubhouse’s restaurant will be available for players and their guests for dining and resting. A daily Players' Menu will be offered for CHF 30.- and will include salad, main course and dessert with water and coffee. The Players' Menu will be served from 11am to 4pm.

SOCIAL EVENTS Wednesday August 5 - Official Opening Ceremony and Welcome Cocktail at the clubhouse. Saturday August 8 - Closing Ceremony followed by Farewell Cocktail Party at the clubhouse.

CLUBHOUSE The Clubhouse with dressing rooms, restaurant etc. will be open daily from 6am on.

DRESS CODE A reasonable standard of dress is expected at all times, both on the course and in the clubhouse. Jeans, sleeveless or collarless shirts and tracksuits are not permitted on the course. Only soft spikes are permitted on the course. Dress code for welcome and farewell cocktail parties is "smart casual".

INFORMATION BOARDS There will be information boards located in the club house. INTERNET ACCESS A complimentary wireless internet access is available in the clubhouse area.

LOCKERS The locker rooms are situated in the clubhouse. A locker for personal belongings will be available to each player.

REGISTRATION AND TOURNAMENT OFFICE Registration is open from Tuesday 4 August 8am to Wednesday 5 August 12pm. Competitors are requested to register at the club house immediately on arrival, but not later than Wednesday 5 August 12pm. A competitor’s failure to meet the deadline or to pre-notify the Committee of his/her pending arrival time may result in the competitor losing his/her starting field place reservation.

TRANSPORTATION There will be no official transportation between airport, hotels and golf club.
