Outdoor Track

The Varsity Outdoor Track team traveled to Simsbury High to compete in the Greater Hartford Invitational and had many notable performances, including the boys' team placing 3rd in the Small-Medium school division. For the girls, Rose O'Brien '14 finished 7th in the 300m hurdles, while the 4x100 relay team of Kelsey Geddes '15, Claire Hurtado '16, Gabrielle Giangreco '13 and Jenna Jordano '13 finished 6th overall.

On the Boys' side, Galo Rodriguez '13 placed 2nd in the 110m hurdles, while Jared Delane '13 took 2nd in the 100m dash, 2nd in the 400m, and won the 200m dash, setting a new school record (21.94).

The team's next meet is Tues. May 14 at Newington at 3:45.

Fri., May 10

Baseball

The Varsity team fell to 11-4 on the season with a 2-8 loss to Southington. Zack Niziolek '15 threw 3 strong innings of relief and Mac Crispino '13 led the offense with 2 hits. Dylan Robinson '14 also added an RBI single.

The JV also fell to Southington with a score of 1-2. Brendan MacCallum '16 threw seven strong innings, allowing only one earned run. Chris Denapoli '15 was 1of 3 at the plate with an RBI to lead the offense.

The team's next game is Mon. May 13 at Conard at 3:45.

Softball

The Varsity team hosted Southington and lost a tough game to the Blue Knights. Leading the offense for the Indians were Kristen Young '13 and Alisha Collazo '14. Playing well defensively were Christal Riley '16 and Anna Hardy '15.

The team's next game is Mon. May 13 vs. Conard at 3:45.

Boys'

The Varsity Boys' Tennis team traveled to Simsbury to take on the Trojans and lost a tough match with the final score of 0-7. Playing well for the Indians were Oliver Hasson '16, Kyle Brooks '15 and Tim O'Donnell '16.

The team's next match is Mon. May 13 at Hall at 3:45.

Girls' Tennis

The Varsity Girls' Tennis team hosted Simsbury and put their perfect 10-0 on the line, coming away with a huge 6-1 victory over the Trojans to improve to 11-0 on the season. Leading the way for the Indians were Anna Case '15, Angela Miguel '15, Charlotte Carew '15 and MaryKate Rogers '14.

The team's next match is Mon. May 13 vs. Hall at the University of St. Joseph's at 3:45.

Thurs., May 9

Boys'

The Varsity Boys' Lacrosse team traveled to East Catholic to battle the Eagles and lost a tough game with a final score of 7-10. Playing well for the Indians were John Fox '14, Chris McLaughlin '14 and Connor Murphy '16.

The team's next game is Tues. May 14 vs. Berlin at Northwest at 4:00.

Boys' The Varsity Boys' Golf team hit the links at Hawks Landing Golf Course vs. Southington and lost a tough match with a final score of 158-150. Playing well for the Indians were Chris Butler '16, who shot an unbelievable 37, Tyler Stites '13, who shot 39 and Tad Link '14 and Brian Kozak '14, who both shot 41.

The team's next match is Tues. May 14 vs. Simsbury at Simsbury Farms GC at 3:00.

Girls' Golf

The Varsity Girls' Golf team traveled to Tower Ridge GC and had an unbelievable match in tough conditions defeating both Canton and Chesire (194 NWC, 217 Chesire, 231 Canton). Medaling for the Indians was Zoe Lavoie '15, who shot an impressive 42 for the first medal of her career and tied the school record for the lowest differential at 4.7. Also playing well for the Indians were Sadie Martinez '13, who shot 45 and Rachel Bercowetz '14, who shot 52.

The JV team lost a very close match to Avon at Blue Fox Run GC. Playing well for NWC were Grace Vincens '16, Alicia Moran '16, Emma Barnes '16 and Xuan Rao '16.

The team's next match is Mon. May 13 at Tunxis Plantation CC vs. Farmington at 3:00.

Wed., May 8

Girls' Golf

The Varsity Girls' Golf team hit the links at Rockledge Golf Course in a tri-match taking on Hall and Berlin. The Indians lost a tough match with a score of 177-196-201 (Berlin, Hall, NWC) but had many notable performances. Playing well for Northwest were Sadie Martinez '13 and Rachel Bercowetz '14, who both shot 49, while Zoe Lavoie '15 shot 50.

The team's next match is Thurs. May 9 at Tower Ridge Golf Course vs. Canton and Chesire at 3:00.

Tues., May 7

Girls' Lacrosse

The Varsity Girls' Lacrosse team lost a hardfought game to Conard with a final score of 9-11. Scoring goals for the Indians were Cathy Higgins '13 (4 goals), Emily Kearney '13 (2 goals), Lauren Cenci '15 (1 goal) and Jessica Jordano '15 (1 goal). Playing well were MaryKate Bourdon '13, Michelle Medina '14 and Liza Oakley '14.

The JV team lost a tough game with a final score of 4-13. Scoring goals for the Indians were Ariana Kelly '16 and Caitlin Nicholas '15. Playing well for the Indians were Hope Vaughn '15, Christina Wilson '15 and Cailtin O'Sullivan '15.

The team's next game is Thurs. May 9 vs. Weston at Wesleyan University. Varsity at 4:45. JV at 6:30.

Boys' Golf

The Varsity Boys' Golf team hit the links at Wampanoag Country Club to take on the Golden Hurricanes of New Britain and came away with a victory with a final score of 166-193. Brian Kozak '14 medaled for the Indians, shooting an impressive 40. Also playing well for Northwest were Tyler Stites '13 and Tad Link '14.

The team's next match is Thurs. May 9 at Hawks Landing Golf Course vs. Southington at 3:00.

The Varsity Boys' Tennis team hosted Maloney at the University of St. Joseph's and came away with a close victory with a final score of 4-3. Playing well for the Indians were Oliver Hasson '16 and Kyle Brooks '15.

Outdoor Track

The Varsity Outdoor Track team traveled to Simsbury High School to take on the Trojans and lost both the Boys' Meet (34- 116) and the Girls' Meet (44-106) but there were many notable performances. On the boys' side, the 4x100 m relay team of Jared Delane '13, Anthony Nwachukwu '15, Albert Innarelli '13 and Chris Grenham '13 won first place. Innarelli paced the field events for the Indians, winning the Long Jump and placing 2nd in the High Jump. Grenham and Delane paced the track events. Granham won the 100m dash and placed 3rd in the 200m dash while Delane won the 200m dash and the 300m hurdles. On the girls' side, the 4x800 relay team of Molly McDonald '14, Emily Grandell '16, Haley Derlinga '13 and Elizabeth Lathrop '13 placed first as well as the 4x400 relay team of Rose O'Brien '14, Jenna Jordano '13, Sarah Gillespie '13 and Lathrop. Pacing the track events was Gillespie, who won the 800 and the 1600. Pacing the field events were Emma Banevicius '13 in the shot put and Alexandra McKenna '13 in the javelin.

The team's next meet is Sat. May 11 at the Greater Hartford Invitational at Simsbury High at 9:30.

Mon., May 6

Baseball

The Varsity Baseball team improved to 11-3 on the season with a 11-0 victory over New Britain. John Arel '14 and Zach Niziolek '15 combined for a one-hit shutout on the mound. Mac Crispino '13 led the offense with 3 hits, while Will Carew '13 had 2 hits. Brendan Fox '13 and Dylan Robinson '14 played exceptionally well defensivelty.

The JV team improved to 8-5 on the season with a 10-7 victory over New Britain. Matt Goldman '16 had two triples in the victory and Christian Flynn '14 added a home run for the Indians. Pitching well for the Indians were Trent Kowalec '15 and Matt Boone '16, while Tyler Rice '16 and Evan Michalek '15 played well defensively.

The team's next game is Wed. May 8 vs. Farmington at 3:45.

Softball

The Varsity Softball team went into extra innings vs. New Britain at Chelsea Park and came away with a huge 5-2 victory. Kathleen Yorio '16 pitched an amazing game and also homered to help propel the Indians to victory. Also batting well were Sabrina Carreira '15 and Christal Riley '16, who each had a triple. Alisha Collazo '14 played solid behind the plate, Kristen Young '13 stole four bases and Colleen Goroshko '15 played well.

The team's next game is at Tunxis Mead vs. Farmington on Wed. May 8 at 7:00.

Boys' Lacrosse

The Varsity Boys' Lacrosse team has won five consecutive games including a huge 8-7 victory over Suffield. Chris McLaughlin '14 led the offense with three goals, while Aidan McDonnell '14 and John Fox '14 each added 2 goals, and Mac Kearns '14 added another goal. Playing well defensively were Will Klein '15 and Ian McCarthy '13, while Austin McCarthy '13 came up with huge saves in goal to secure the victory.

The JV team lost a hardfought double overtime game to Suffield with a final score of 4-5. Playing well for the Indians were Josh Stumpf '15, Nick Boccuzzi '15 and David Kalamarides '15.

The team's next game is Wed. May 8 at Tolland at 4:00.

Girls' Lacrosse

The Varsity Girls' Lacrosse team traveled to Rocky Hill to take on the Terriers and came away with an impressive 15-12 victory. Playing well for the Indians were Cathy Higgins '13, Emily Kearney '13, Julia Crawford '13, MaryKate Bourdon '13 and Lauren Cenci '15.

The team's next game is Tues. May 7 vs. Conard at Northwest Catholic at 4:00.

The Varsity Boys' Tennis team hosted Souhington and lost a tough match to the Blue Knights with a final score of 0-7. Playing well for Northwest were Oliver Hasson '16, Nick Bragaia '14 and Adam Mendoza '15.

The team's next match is Tues. May 7 vs. Maloney at the University of St. Joseph's at 3:45.

Girls' Tennis

The Varsity Girls' Tennis team continued their perfect season with a monstrous 5-2 victory over the Blue Knights of Southington. Leading the way for Northwest were Angela Miguel '15 and Anna Case '15, who both split sets and won in the third and decisive set, and by doing so qualified for the Class S State Tournament.

The Varsity Girls' Golf team hit the links at Gillette Ridge Golf Course to take on the Trojans of Simsbury and came away with a victory with a final score of 197-205. Leading the way for the Indians were Sadie Martinez '13, who shot 47 and Rachel Bercowetz '14, who shot 48.

The team's next match is Wed. May 8 at Rockledge Golf Course vs. Hall and Conard at 3:00.

Gymnastics

Northwest Catholic's sensational sophomore, Allison Coffey, competed in the Judge's Cup Invitational in gymnastics this past weekend. Allie was the only gymnast from the Farmington Valley to medal in all four events. She received 4th on the vault and the bars, second on the beam and first on the floor, which equated to a second place overall. Congratulations Allie!
