As a football player for Simsbury High School Marty never lost a football game he participated in. He played on three Conference Championship Teams and set the school and state record for most total points (151) in 1971. He was a three-time All- Conference athlete in football, including honors on both offense and defense. He was a Hartford Times All- Suburban Team selection as well as a New Haven Register All-State athlete on both sides of the ball. In 1972 he earned the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame Scholar Athlete Award. In baseball at SHS he led the state in stolen bases (32 in 1971) and was an All-Conference player. Marty attended UCONN on a football scholarship and in a game in 1974 against the University of New Hampshire he tied the team record for most interceptions in a game (3), a record he still shares with five other athletes, including former NFL star Darius Butler. Marty started at cornerback for three years at UCONN where he also punted, kicked off, and was a return specialist. He even played (and scored) as a fullback. He was a three-year starting varsity quarterback who also excelled as a kicker, a four-year letter winner at hockey (who he helped lead to a State Championship in 2003), and a three-year varsity baseball player. During his sophomore year he was named to the All-Conference football (both kicker and punter) and hockey teams as well as being named to the Honorable Mention All-State Hockey (defensemen) Team. During his junior year Dan was named to the All-Conference football (QB, kicker, punter), hockey, and baseball teams. He also earned an exceptionally rare trifecta as he was First Team All-State in Football (punter, Honorable Mention as QB), Hockey (defensemen), and Baseball (catcher). He was also named as the Hartford Courant?s ?Best of the Best? in hockey. Dan?s senior year was also stellar as he was All-Conference in football (kicker and punter), hockey, and baseball while also earning First Team All-State honors in football (kicker) and Hockey (defensemen) and 2nd team All-State in baseball. Dan captained the football, hockey, and baseball programs. In all, Dan was First Team All-State five times, Second Team once and Honorable Mention twice for a total of eight All-State recognitions. He was also honored twelve times as an All-Conference athlete. Dan excelled as a football and baseball player at Hamilton College where he lettered a total of eight times. He played quarterback, H-Back, and kicked off and punted. During baseball season he started catcher all four years while also playing outfield and pitcher. At graduation he was second all-time in career hits (122). During that one track season Sam set an SHS record in the 200 meter run and was a part of the Class L State Championship team. Sam truly excelled on the basketball court. She was a four-year starter who ended up being the SHS career assist leader and fifth leading scorer of all time. She was a three-time All-Conference athlete and a member of the Hartford Courant?s All-State Team as well as being named to the Courant?s Top 25 Squad. Sam went on to play for the Pride of Hofstra where she was named to the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) All-Rookie team as well as being Hofstra?s CAA Commissioner?s Academic Award winner for four straight years. She was also a Dean Ehlers Leadership Award Nominee. In 2006-2007 she was a part of Hofstra?s most-winning season (26-8). By the time she graduated from Hofstra Sam scored over 1000 points in NCAA Division I basketball and her teams had made two WNIT appearances. Sam lives in Plainville, CT with her husband Dale and their son Maverick. She is still involved in Simsbury Basketball as an assistant coach on the girls? team. Katie was a superstar on the soccer field. During her years as a Trojan she was a member of the U19 United States National pool. As a freshman, she was named to the All-State, All-New England, and All-Region I teams, During her sophomore season she again was named to the All-State, All-New England, and All-Region I teams. Her junior year saw her earn All-State, All-New England, and All-Region I honors once again plus she was named the Connecticut Soccer Player of the Year. Katie also added the title of National Soccer Collegiate Coaches of America/Adidas All-American and was named to the Parade Magazine All-American Team. During her senior year she helped the Trojans win a team State Title while once again she earned a place on All-State (four years), All-New England (four straight years), and All-Region I teams (four years), was named the Connecticut Soccer Player of the Year (two years), was a National Soccer Collegiate Coaches of America/Adidas All-American (two years), and was named to the Parade Magazine All-American Team (two years). Katie continued her career at Boston College where she was named to the SoccerBuzz Northeast Region All-Freshman Team, the New England Women?s Soccer Association All-New England Team, and was a multi-time All-Big East athlete. Her C-State field hockey squads have posted a 19-11 mark in the past two seasons, including advancing to the N CAA Division III Quarterfinals in 1982. Meanwhi le, her women's lax teams, playing one of the toughest schedules in the country, have gone 20-4 the past two campaigns, finishing 7th in the AIAW Division II Tourney and tied for third in the nation in the USWLA championships this past spring . Rudy, a nativ e of Lancas ter, Pa., brings a strong ba ckground in both sports to Cortland. A 1977 grad uate of Lock Haven State , Rudy was a four year member of both the Eagle hockey and lax squads, with the Lock Haven units earning third and fifth place national finishes during that time. She capta ined the team during her senior year. After graduation, Ru dy played with the 1978 Lock Ha ven State field hockey team tour to England and she also played on the Mideast Sectional Field Hockey te am. In 1978 -79, Rudy returned to her hometown as head field hockey coach and assis tant lacrosse coach at Franklin & Marshall College.

An offshoot of the successful “Class Act Schools” initiative, the statewide advisory board empowers students to promote good sportsmanship within their leagues and to address other issues regarding athletics.
