“We Win Together” Welcome to the 2006 Simsbury High School Football Season “We win together” Welcome to the 2006 Simsbury High School Football Season We are entering a very exciting year for Simsbury High School football. This season, our young men are competing under the lights on a state-of-the-art artificial playing surface right on our high school’s campus. Our new stadium is the envy of our opponents and one of the state’s best high school sporting event venues. Seven years ago, this facility was the vision of the charter members of the Simsbury Gridiron Club. Thanks to the volunteerism of a growing number of Club members and the perseverance of Board of Education and community leaders, this vision has become a welcome reality. The Simsbury Gridiron Club is a booster club for football in Simsbury and, in particular, our high school program. Our common goal is to ensure that the students participating in football have safe, fun, and successful seasons. Money that the Club raises through various campaigns goes to pay for necessary equipment, scholarships, and resources not funded by the Board of Education that are needed to help sustain a strong and competitive football program. The Club is managed by volunteers and all of the net proceeds benefit the high school football program. Our efforts have resulted in the ability to fund additional coaching staff, our scoreboard, the weight room, along with a variety of other necessary equipment for players, coaches, and the practice field. One of our goals this season is to contribute to the upgrade and expansion of the visitor’s stands. We want to publicly thank our sponsors and encourage everyone in the community to patronize them. We especially want to recognize our scoreboard sponsors and our gold, silver, and bronze golf tourney sponsors. Without your support, we would not be able to produce a quality football product year in and year out. We invite anyone interested in Simsbury football to check out our website - www. simsburygridiron.org, become a member of the Simsbury Gridiron Club, and get involved in its booster activities. The Simsbury football family has built a solid program that is only sustainable with your help and volunteerism. Let’s make this season one of the best ever for our boys and our community. Best of Luck to the 2006 Trojans! Jim Wasz, president The Simsbury Gridiron Club Special thanks to: Joyce Crocker in the Athletic Department. We’ll fight to the end and never give up: We’ll show (opponents name) what we can do. Come on you loyal Simsbury Trojans: We want victory here today. So raise the score and fight for more For Simsbury High RAH RAH RAH. Message from the Principal Welcome to the new home of the Trojans! I want to take this opportunity to celebrate all of the parents, town officials, and community members who supported the construction of Simsbury High’s all-purpose field. This facil- ity, which was overwhelmingly approved at a special town meeting two years ago, is hosting its second season of Trojan football. However, this is the first season that our football program features a full slate of Friday night games! We expect tremendous community support for our football team as the Tro- jans compete for victories in the extremely competitive CCC North. The football program - like all of our interscholastic teams – is vitally im- portant to the mission of our school. In addition to developing these young men’s skills in areas of teamwork, leadership, and commitment, their partici- pation in football should give them perspective about the importance of fam- ily and other priorities in their lives, especially the pursuit of academic excel- lence. Our student-athletes are most successful at Simsbury High when they strike the balance between effort in the classroom and effort on the field. For many years, that balance has been a hallmark of SHS football. Thanks to Coach Grace and all of his assistants for their incredible commitment to these students. I also want to thank the players at all levels of the program for continuing the tradition of representing Simsbury High through their sportsmanship, respect, and hard play. I hope that you all enjoy a great season of Tro- jan football. Neil Sullivan, Principal Message from the Athletic Director I would like to thank all those involved in the Simsbury High School football community for the opportunity to be part of a program that is so rich in tradition and success. As the fall 2006 football season gets under- way, we are all excited about the completion of our new track and field project. With the installation of field lighting along with the artificial turf field, Simsbury now ranks as one of the top game facilities in the state.

September 25, 2020 Good Afternoon High School Students and Families, CIAC fall sports competition will open this week. Throughout the summer and into the fall, administrators from the region have collaborated to share best practices and ideas to continue to offer outstanding high school programming. Administrators from Avon, Farmington, Simsbury and West Hartford continue to meet regularly to promote high level academic and extracurricular programming. Considerable time was spent vetting safe and adaptive solutions that would allow our students to engage in interscholastic activities with spectators while also adhering to public health guidelines and complying with Governor Lamont’s Executive Orders. The remainder of this letter will outline our approach to having spectators attend athletic events within the region this fall. Our collective approach to interscholastic athletics competitions this fall has been reviewed by members of Central Connecticut Conference, local health districts, and officials at the CIAC. With that in mind the linked document (each school has provided its own in their letter) outlines our approach to events with spectators this fall. Please note that, overall, our plans are consistent, however each school has determined its own guidelines based upon unique factors including the facilities and numbers of athletes participating. It is important to understand that limitations to fans in attendance have been made to ensure the health and safety of our students and community members. Inability to follow the above referenced guidelines could result in potential cancellations or forfeits from competitions. Additionally, athletic directors have informed us that groups of referees/officials may be unwilling to participate in the scheduled competitions if specific spectator guidelines are not followed.

Lombardi. Dear Friends, Patrons, and Families, The fall sports seasons have come to a conclusion, but the hard work continues for Simsbury High School student-athletes and coaches. Year round conditioning, so important for a successful season in any sport, is in full swing. As supporters of Simsbury athletics, our attention is focused on this area. We are writing to ask for your support for a Special Capital Project designed to upgrade and equip the existing strength and fitness area at Simsbury High School. The current weight racks, furnished and funded by Simsbury Gridiron over 10 years ago, are worn out, bent, and generally insufficient for the needs of a successful athletics program. An updated strength facility is an essential component of personal improvement, team-building and pride for all student athletes. This unique effort is being undertaken with the full knowledge and cooperation of Athletic Director Dane Street and the Physical Education staff. The Simsbury Gridiron Club, in a partnership with Simsbury High School and the Simsbury High School Athletic Department, has set an ambitious, but reasonable fund raising goal of $35,000. This amount will ensure that our student-athletes have the strength and fitness training equipment needed for success in their various sports.
