THE DEAN OF THE COLLEGE OF ARTS & SCIENCES Suffolk University, in the heart of central , seeks a Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences to oversee the University’s largest undergraduate school which encompasses a wide array of disciplines from the traditional liberal arts core majors to flourishing programs in communications, radiation therapy, interior design, and graphic design among many others. In its present academic configuration, the Dean heads one of three schools, the others being business and law, which report to the Provost, Dr. Marisa Kelly, who joined Suffolk in the summer of 2014.

The Dean will succeed Dr. Kenneth Greenberg who after ten years as Dean is retiring to return to full-time teaching. The new Dean will arrive in the summer of 2015 at an exciting and challenging time for the University, and at a moment when the University is evolving toward a more integrated organizational model.

1 ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY

Suffolk University is the most centrally located university in Boston. Situated next to the State House and nearby City Hall, the University’s facilities reach from Beacon Hill to the historic Freedom Trail. , the tallest building in America from 1800-1850, is immediately adjacent to the central campus buildings with its historic graveyard serving as the final resting place for such founding figures as John Hancock, Samuel Adams, and Paul Revere. Founded in 1906 as Suffolk Law School, the University has a proud tradition led by the success of the law school over the generations. Today, law school gradu- ates populate the highest levels of the profession and public service. The law school continues to be the second largest law school, next to Harvard, in .

Suffolk has been cited once again by the Princeton Review as one of America’s Best Colleges. Its business school has also been named among the Best Business Schools. The University is recognized as one of Boston’s five most global universi- ties along with Harvard, MIT, Northeast- ern and .

The University’s annual budget is approx- imately $320 million with a modest en- dowment of $194.5 million. Undergradu- ate tuition and fees for full-time students total about $32,500 with graduate tuition set just over $38,000 and law school tuition at $46,000. Approximately $60 million in aid is granted annually.

Of the University’s 8,400 students, two- thirds are undergraduates.
