his November, Theater Close-Up continues its presentation of provocative and NOVEMBER 2015 entertaining Off-Broadway plays with the one-man play Wiesenthal, filmed at the Acorn Theatre on Theatre Row. Written by and starring Tom Dugan, Wiesenthal is the riveting true story of Simon Wiesenthal – nicknamed the “Jewish James THEATER Bond” – who devoted his to bringing more than 1,100 Nazi war criminals to justice. “The first season of Theater Close-Up proved to be a resounding success for CLOSE-UP audiences and the Off-Broadway community, and we couldn’t be more pleased,” says David Horn, Executive Producer of Theater Close-Up. “We’re looking forward PRESENTS to continuing this unique collaboration with the region’s diverse community of non-profit theaters to bring viewers a brand new season of bold, innovative and provocative theater.” “WIESENTHAL” “Theater Close-Up is the perfect example of the great impact public media can have in the community,” says Neal Shapiro, President and CEO of WNET. “Our viewers have told us they loved the plays we presented in season one, and they want more. The participating theaters have told us they have seen an increase in memberships and audience attendance as a result of the broadcasts.

You can catch the first two offerings of the season, Rasheeda Speaking (starring Tonya Pinkins and Dianne Wiest) from The New Group and Fashions for Men from the Mint Theater Company online at thirteen.org/TheaterCloseUp. And stay-tuned next month for the presentation of Nikkole Salter’s Repairing a Nation from Crossroads Theatre Company – the Davis family is torn when family matriarch insists they join a lawsuit seeking reparations for Oklahoma’s Tulsa Race Riots that devastated their family 80 years ago. PREMIERES SUNDAY, “All this and free online streaming for NOVEMBER 15 AT 9PM viewers in the area,” Preview videos and more at thirteen.org/ says Shapiro. “Who could ask for topic/programs/theater-close-up anything more?” WLIW Arts Beat Arts and culture on Long Island, across the region, and throughout the country are celebrated each month on WLIW Arts Beat. This month, filmmaker Ron Rudaitis (right) shares his documentary Youth Food Revolution, which explores the growing Youth Food Movement and its impact on the nation’s education and economy.
