Spectacularly situated, with wonderful sea views, Parkham Wood House was designed by the innovative Devon architect Mervyn Seal in 1967. Tis exhilarating three- bedroom house built high across a clif face, with its extensive glazing and distinctive ‘Butterfy’ profle, is one of a small collection of similar houses designed by Seal in the Torbay area.

Te outstanding and original interiors and exterior of the house (including an impressive 1960s glass chandelier) have led to the house being recommended for listed status. Timber-clad ceilings, bespoke shelving and open tread staircases are also among the many engaging features of the house. Tere is, however, still considerable scope for updating the interior in a sympathetic manner. Recently described by the 20th Century Society as “a remarkable achievement”, Parkham Wood House is widely considered to be Seal’s fnest work for its combination of ingenious structural design and daring decorative style.
