This approach to our game starts from our Milo Have-A Go program co-ordinated by Adam Thomas through to our Under 8’s a to Under 16 competitions right through to our seniors. In addition, as with all years, there is much that also goes on behind the scenes by many people to enable our cricketers to take the field and I’m very grateful for these ever passionate volunteers for their time and energies. As a Club, we continue our strive to 'Increase Participation in Cricket' and to this extent, Springwood Cricket Club remains one of the strongest contributors to our local area. Through this participation, I continually see great performances from individuals right across sides, not just the standout crickets in each team. Congratulations to all our players who competed this year. Also, a big thank you to all our volunteers including the Junior coaches and managers and the Senior Captains (and managers) and the Have-A-Go Volunteers. The fact that these individuals step forward and take on these roles means a better season for us all - so thank you. This year saw the fourth Legends Dinner. Like last year, the inclement weather resulted in our annual ‘Back to Springwood’ Day being postponed a couple of times and then subsequently abandoned. Despite this, the Legends night was yet again a great success. Once again a big thankyou to Frank McDermot for his tireless efforts behind this event. I would like to also acknowledge our committee. It’s been another pleasurable year running the club with such a great bunch of people. And lastly, thank you to all who supported our club this season. I am very proud to have been president of this club during another fantastic year and I look forward to seeing you all back for season 2013/14. Yours in cricket, David Williams President, Springwood Cricket Club 5 PERPETUAL TROPHY WINNERS SENIOR PLAYER OF THE YEAR Harley Stibbard The Senior Player of the Year is awarded to the player deemed to have achieved the most outstanding and consistent on field results during the season. Over the history of the award there have been some great cricketers to win the award. This year is no different with Harley Stibbard scoring a mountain of runs and taking many catches. Harley’s season was very strong, scoring 545 runs @ 49.55, being the rock holding the batting together in 3rd grade, and his safe hands taking 15 catches. Harley’s highlight was scoring a brilliant 107 not out which included 11 4’s & 6 6’s. Another highlight in Harley’s season was a suberb knock of 97 in the semi final which led to his side to the grand final. This perpetual trophy is awarded in recognition to the hard work and dedication Ron gave to this club during his time at Springwood. This year’s winner embodies that same hard work & dedication. Adam Thomas was a constant in 1st grade this season and also played across 2nd and 3rd grades as well. It is Adam’s dedication & selflessness that has seen him become this year’s Senior Clubman. His eagerness to spend time with some of the younger members in the club by being the milo in2cricket co-ordinator.. Adam also served as 1 of the curators at Lomatia this year which proves Nathan’s worth to the club & why he is a most worthy recipient of the Senior clubman award. SENIOR CLUBMAN OF THE YEAR HONOUR ROLL 2003-2004 WALLY MOUBARAK 2004-2005 DAVID WILLIAMS 2005-2006 ADAM THOMAS 2006-2007 MATTHEW ROGERS 2007-2008 GRANT HUNT 2008-2009 BRADLEY FILMER 2009-2010 FRANK MCDERMOTT 2010-2011 SHAUN KITCHENER 2011-2012 JONO LEES 2012-2013 NATHAN HUNT 2013-2014 ADAM THOMAS 7 THE WALLY PHILLIPS MEMORIAL SHIELD Adam Thomas (Man of the match Back to Springwood Day) Scott Wells with a patient 24, Luke o’Carrigan with a quickfire 13 and Nathan McDermott with a suberb 3-19 might have been in with a shot of the Wally Phillips Memorial Shield were it not for Adam Thomas’ rebuilding 28 that gave Springwood a fighting chance of victory. Adam batted with patience and the partnership of 56 with Scott Wells brought Springwood back from a poor start. He complied 28 with 6 fours and brought Springwood right back into the game, unfortunately it wasn’t enough and our Back to Springwood Day record stands at eight wins and one loss. This team selected based purely on their statistics during the season. This team has been selected in the following order: 6 highest scoring batsmen, 1 wicketkeeper with the most dismissals & 4 highest wicket taking bowlers. Please note that should a player/s qualify in more than 1 category, they will be selected only once, where they performed the best. Should there be a tie between two players, the players averages will then decide who is selected.

By any measure the season past was a great success. On the field we captured two premierships in the juniors and a further three teams made the semi-finals whilst in the seniors we also made it to the semis in two grades. After some 11 seasons in the wilderness our first grade team finally made the semis and although beaten, gave a great account of themselves in a tight match.

  • Cricket Memorabilia Society Postal Auction Closing at Noon 10
CRICKET MEMORABILIA SOCIETY POSTAL AUCTION CLOSING AT NOON 10th JULY 2020 Conditions of Postal Sale The CMS reserves the right to refuse items which are damaged or unsuitable, or we have doubts about authenticity. Reserves can be placed on lots but must be agreed with the CMS. They should reflect realistic values/expectations and not be the “highest price” expected. The CMS will take 7% of the price realised, the vendor 93% which will normally be paid no later than 6 weeks after the auction. The CMS will undertake to advertise the memorabilia for auction on its website no later than 3 weeks prior to the closing date of the auction. Bids will only be accepted from CMS members. Postal bids must be in writing or e-mail by the closing date and time shown above. Generally, no item will be sold below 10% of the lower estimate without reference to the vendor.. Thus, an item with a £10-15 estimate can be sold for £9, but not £8, without approval. The incremental scale for the acceptance of bids is as follows: £2 increments up to £20, then £20/22/25/28/30 up to £50, then £5 increments to £100 and £10 increments above that. So, if there are two postal bids at £25 and £30, the item will go to the higher bidder at £28. Should there be two identical bids, the first received will win. Bids submitted between increments will be accepted, thus a £52 bid will not be rounded either up or down. Items will be sent to successful postal bidders the week after the auction and will be sent by the cheapest rate commensurate with the value and size of the item.

Pete has been central to this club for as long as I've been associated with it and I was thrilled that the Club was able to formally acknowledge Pete's many year contribution with the unveiling this year of the 'Peter Filmer Honour Board'. One of our driving values at the Club remains 'Increasing Participation in Cricket' and to this extent, season 2009/10 exceeded our expectations of success (even for Springwood Cricket) both on and off the field.

This approach to our game starts from our Milo In2 program and our Under 8’s and goes right through to our seniors. In addition, as with all years, there is much that also goes on behind the scenes by many people to enable our cricketers to get onto the park each week and I’m very grateful for these ever passionate volunteers for their time and energies.
