YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE BIG TO BE SUCCESSFUL th Annual BMDA

Conference 15April 26-28, 2017, Donja Gorica,

SINCERE APPRECIATION FOR CONFERENCE SUPPORT!

PARTNERS Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Welcome to the 15th Annual BMDA Conference “You Don’t Have to Be Big to Be Successful”, which this year is taking place in Donja Gorica, Montenegro! Many people think that success comes only, if you are big, have a lot of resources, and already have established position in the market. We believe that the strength of any organization comes not from outside (resources, size, market share, etc.), but from inside. Organization needs to create a strong and reliable internal culture of mutual trust and respect, which would inspire creativity, innovative solutions, as well as constructive debate, while searching for non-standard solutions. Such culture operates in the same way, as the immune system of the person. It protects organization from any unexpected and hostile change from outside. It also helps to find the most optimal solution in every case and situation. It is impossible to slow down or stop the changes, that are becoming more and more rapid in our days. But it is possible and even required to prepare organization to cope with those predictable and unpredictable changes. For that we need to know why, what, when and how the actions should take place as well as who will do what. The primary goal of our BMDA conference is to analyze those aspects and share the experiences of successful applications from relatively small organizations, proving that “small, strong and beautiful” approach works. During the conference, you will have a chance to hear experienced Rectors and Deans from all around the world sharing their insights how to manage relatively small academic institutions more effectively and efficiently, enabling them to serve their purpose better. You will meet the experienced international and local consultants, who will provide their insights and present Business solutions for the small and medium Companies in the form of methodologies, methods and tools. You will see the examples of entrepreneurial activities, new ideas and innovative approaches during visits to Montenegro companies, where participants will be able to observe the results of the successful managerial solutions. You will also visit the beautiful sea coast of Montenegro and explore the local nature, which in my opinion, is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. I wish you to have unforgettable time, enjoyable discussions, great networking and effective learning experiences! Sincerely, Dr. Virginijus Kundrotas President Baltic Management Development Association

YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE BIG TO BE SUCCESSFUL 3 Dear colleagues, Dear students,

On behalf of of Donja Gorica (UDG) I salute you and wish you a warm welcome to UDG, a host of this year BMDA conference. It is both, a great honor and obligation for our young University. We find this conference challenging for all of us. It is a challenge for new ideas, but also for networking and making new friendships. We are well aware that without internationalization and networking, “small cannot become big and successful”. We truly believe that in inter-connected, global world even small and countries (by their surface) have the chance to develop fast and become globally recognizable. Don’t you agree that globally achieved sport results of our countries prove this? Mission of our University is to make young people self-confident, to make them believe in themselves and to free them of prejudice that everything which comes from abroad, from developed centers is more superior to what we have and we can create. History has shown that this complex was a big obstacle in our development… We must believe in ourselves… We must believe in our potentials… In our vision… We must respect ourselves, in order to respect others… We must know and appreciate our culture, in order to appreciate and understand the culture of others, so that we can live in multicultural society which happens to be the world of today… Only love to other humans, compassion and solidarity, joint with self-awareness will lead us to truth, virtue and happiness! These are the key principles which shape the emotional atmosphere at UDG. This atmosphere encourages the small university of ours is to accomplish its mission with great love. That mission is obligation of all universities in the world, and it is shaped by the future of living at our planet, mother Earth! When we look at mother Earth from “the cosmic eyes” – there are no state boundaries, nations, divisions… We truly believe that everyone who contributes to this picture of mother Earth, no matter the size, has the chance to become big!... The “reason eye” tells me I am right and the “eye of heart” to never lose the faith in ourselves and the future of a Human! Welcome to the History of future – welcome to UDG!
