The narrative repeats itself constantly descriptions of his fellow SEALs are shallow and ingratiating and ultimately the battle scenes really do stretch credibility when I think that they would have been far more compelling toned down. The one that is suitable only for those who want to serve their country so bad, nothing else matters. Luttrell let his wit and personality shine through. The actual mission is only half the book however - the other half is about Luttrell's own background, and a significant portion of this is used to describe his training on the path to become a Navy SEAL, which the reader comes to appreciate as immensely important for those that are in the profession.
