Bandes (bis 1336) das Urkundenbuch von Stadt und Landschaft Zü- rich 1957 an ein vorläufiges Ende gelangt war, führen seit den 1980er Jahren die Urkundenregesten das ursprüngliche Konzept in gekürzter Form weiter. Mit dem vorliegenden vierten Band, der die Zeitspanne zwischen 1401 und 1415 abdeckt, steht die Erfassung aller im Staatsarchiv Zürich befindlichen Urkunden inzwischen mit beiden Beinen im 15. Jahrhundert; den bisher in drei Bänden veröffentlichten knapp 4500 Regesten werden jetzt über 1600 weitere hinzugefügt. Ausgangspunkt bilden die im Staatsarchiv vorhandenen Regesten, die als unerlässliche Hilfsmittel einen ersten Überblick über die im Archiv aufbewahrten Urkunden leisten.
