It’s Showtime Community Club February Report

It’s Showtime Meeting February 9th, 2021 Montey Franklin—Reporter

On February 9th, 2021, the It’s Showtime 4-H club called their meeting to order at 6:30 P.M. Cambrey Rogers, Mollee Vroman, and Miles Etchart led the pledges, and then we moved onto our ice breaker. Montey Franklin led the meeting due to many officer absences that night. We then discussed the Secretary’s, Treasurer’s, and County Council Reports. We then moved onto upcoming dates:

 February 12th, Officer Training from 9-3

 February 14th, 12-5 Cattle Clinic/Weigh-in formerly known as Feeder show

 Skijoring Clean-up February 20-21st

 April 10th District retreat

 May 2nd Sheep, Goat, and swine weigh in

 June 27th Poultry

When these topics were all discussed, we moved onto awards and project manuals, as well as choices for one mandatory community pride project. The choices are the Skijoring Clean-up February 20-21, a spring card/craft day in April to make May day gifts, and a Range Call Meeker Massacre set-up and clean up on the 4th of July. We then discussed other business and Charlie, Montey, and Jayci gave demonstrations. The meeting was adjourned at 7:30 P.M.

It’s A Way of Life Community Club February Report

It’s a Way of Life Meeting February 16, 2021 Samuel Merz—Reporter.

The It’s a Way of Life Community Club met February 16th at 6 pm. The highlight of the meeting was the coffee cup suet bird feeders. Each member brought a coffee cup and the club supplied the materials for the STEM project. The club elected 4-H Council representatives, Luke and Liam Olson, to attend the 4-H council meetings and report on our club’s activities. Hayden Garcia gave a very exciting demonstration on hatching poultry eggs. She showed the group pictures of eggs being candled for fertility. President Sierra Gomez reviewed completion requirements with all of the members in attendance. Our activity next month will be pottery and planned by Samuel Merz.

Sow, Sew Sweet Community Club February Report

Sow, Sew Sweet Meeting February 18, 2021 MacKenzie Denney—Reporter.

At the February 18th meeting of the Sew-Sow Sweet Club, there was a game called ice-breaker where you had yarn and would throw it to other people. The person with the end of the yarn, has to roll it up while weaving and maneuvering until they get to the end. Jena and Holt Pelloni showed us how to use different cake decorating tips to decorate cupcakes. Next, Brooke and Dawn Arnold did a presentation on their Californian rabbits. Finally Audri brought white chocolate covered pretzels with sprinkles and explained how to make them as her presentation. The meet was then brought to a close

Meeker 4-H Council February Report

4-H Council February 10, 2021 Johnny Allmon—Reporter.

On Wednesday February 10 at 6:30 we had a 4-H Council meeting. At the meeting we talked about the pros and cons at the Achievement night 2 weeks ago. Overall everyone did a great, awesome job to everyone! There were also some recommendations about side conversations in the audience. Some good news and important news also, so read this carefully. We are going to have a District Retreat on April-10th, here in meeker. So far there is no age restriction so everyone is invited. But there is a MAX of one hundred kids at the event. But it could change so keep watching out for different news otherwise. The Sow Sew Sweet also had a club meeting and reported to 4-H Council. They had elections and the officers are, President-Brooke Arnold, Vice president- Dawn Arnold, Secretary- Alex Trout, Treasurer- Althea Halstead, Reporter- Audri Henderson, Historian- James Petty, Rec leader- James Petty, Pledge leader- Azalia Bresnak

4-H HAPPENINGS

Mandatory Shooting Sports Training, held on February 2nd, was well attended in person and virtually. Leaders answered questions after the training and many 4-H members have started attending Archery and Air Rifle shooting practice. .22 rifle, pistol and shotgun disciplines will start later this spring. Any Archery or Air Rifle members that missed practice can call the office to schedule a make-up training before practicing. Any .22 rifle, pistol or shotgun members can attend the next training, March 30th at 7:00 p.m. A virtual option will be available for those unable to attend in person.

Rangely Achievement Night Results for 2020

Rangely Achievement Night was held February 7, 2021 at The Gathering Event Hall. The event had been postponed from the original November date. Due to COVID restrictions we were only allowed a limit of 50 attendees. The Council made a very difficult decision. The decision was made to allow the 4-H Council members, who host the event annually, their families, and leaders who were presenting awards. Council members quickly become very versed in hosting events while being sure to uphold state and county health department regulation. The Herald Times live streamed the event for 4-H members and the community to attend virtually. Tacos El Torro catered, the dinner with a variety of delicious tacos with all the fixing. Shauna Rhea a local baker made chocolate and vanilla cupcakes with candy shaped 4-H animals on top. Outgoing 4-H Council officers hosted the event and did a wonderful job. New 4-H Council and their Advisors were installed, club awards and special awards were announced. Though this was a very small event the afternoon went super smoothly.
