As stated in a letter from the ’s Office dated May 13, 2020, we are continuing with no public Masses for the time being. However, there is the possibility to receive Holy Communion outside of Mass and out-of-doors. Please, know that you are still dispensed from the obligation of attending Mass. It would be advisable for those with existing medical conditions, or sick or of a certain age to remain at home and not come to take communion. For those who are well physically and understanding the risks of these times, may come for confession and or communion to be distributed in the parking lots of Sacred Heart and St. Anthony’s.

There will be the opportunity to also go to confession. You will have the option of going anonymously or face - to - face.

The Spring Raffle Drawing has been moved to June 7th due to present health safety conditions. The drawing will be held at 12:30 P.M. and will be streamed live on Facebook as you do not have to be present to win. We plan to have the Brunch at a later time when restrictions are lifted. To date we have sold 424 tickets which leaves 86 left to sell. Please call the parish office at 309-936-7900 if you need more tickets to sell. If you have tickets to turn in please mail them to the parish office at: St. Anthony’s Church: P.O. June 6th. Please make sure that your ticket is mailed in advance to ensure it arrives in time. The proceeds from this year’s Raffle will be used to make the final payment on the Stained-Glass Win- dow Restoration and Protection project at Church.

The Resurrection Window has been restored and reinstalled through the generosity of St. Anthony’s and Rosary Society. The remaining 9 windows are currently being restored by the Glass Heritage Co. of Davenport and will be reinstalled this Summer.

Pope Francis Appoints the Reverend Louis Tylka as Coadjutor Bishop of the Diocese of Peoria

PEORIA, IL: Today the Vatican announced that , Francis, has appointed the Reverend Louis Tylka, a priest of the Archdiocese of Chicago, as the Coadjutor Bishop of the Diocese of Peoria. Coadjutor Bishop-Elect Tylka, 49, is currently Pastor of St. Julie Billiart in Tinley Park, Illinois. He has a well-deserved reputation as being a very popular pastor in the Archdiocese of Chicago. He is known as a man of holiness and prayer, generous in service, who knows how to encourage the talents of others in collaborative ministry. The Diocese of Peoria will be enormously blessed by the service and leadership of this gifted and friendly pastor. Coadjutor Bishop-Elect Tylka has served as Pastoral Associate at St. Michael Parish, Orland Park (1996-2003) and at Ss. Faith, Hope and Charity, Winnetka (2003-2004). He served as Pastor of Mater Christi and the Shrine of Mary, Mother of Mothers, North Riverside (2004-2014). Additionally Coadjutor Bishop-Elect Tylka has served on the Presbyteral Council of the Archdiocese of Chicago – serving as Chair of the Council from 2015 to present. He is a native of Harvey, Illinois, born on May 26, 1970, and is the youngest of six children of Louis and the late Norma Tylka. He has five older sisters: Linda Tylka, Brenda Landau (Matthew), Therese Dunning (Steve), Patricia Arvia (James), and Mary Lou Bryant (Gordon). His family settled in Hazel Crest, Illinois and were parishioners of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Homewood. Coadjutor Bishop-Elect Tylka attended St. Joseph Grammar School, Class of 1984, and Marian Catholic High School, Class of 1988. After a year of studies at Purdue University, he transferred to Niles College Seminary of Loyola University, graduating in 1992. His seminary formation took place at the University of Mary of the Lake, Mundelein Seminary and he was ordained a priest of Jesus Christ for the Archdiocese of Chicago by Joseph Cardinal Bernardin on May 18, 1996. Bishop Jenky issued the following statement on the occasion of the Vatican’s announcement: “I know that I speak for all the priests, deacons, consecrated religious, and faithful of the Catholic Diocese of Peoria who join with me in giving heartfelt thanks to Almighty God and to our Holy Father for sending us the Most Reverend Louis Tylka as Coadjutor Bishop-Elect. He has worked in parishes for his entire priesthood, and I know that he will bring enormous talent, zeal, and a warm personality to the service of God and neighbor here in Central Illinois. I have assured Bishop Tylka that he can expect an enthusiastic welcome in our Local Church, and that we look forward to his pastoral ministry and leadership. Upon my retirement, I will be happy to know that he will become the 9th Bishop of Peoria. More than a year ago, I began to experience some growing mobility problems due to arthritis and spinal issues. Through the Papal , I therefore petitioned our Holy Father Pope Francis to appoint a Coadjutor Bishop to help me in the administration of our Diocese, which covers 26 counties in Central Illinois. I am extremely grateful to the Pope for granting my request and sending us this good shepherd.” Coadjutor Bishop-Elect Tylka will serve as the Coadjutor Bishop for the Diocese of Peoria. A coadjutor bishop is an assistant bishop with the right of succession as the next ordinary or . Bishop Jenky will continue to direct the Diocese of Peoria until his retirement. When his retirement is accepted, the coadjutor bishop automatically becomes the next Bishop of Peoria. are required at age 75 to submit their resignation to the Pope. Bishop Jenky turns 75 in March 2022. Upon the retirement of Most Reverend Daniel Jenky, Coadjutor Bishop-Elect Tylka will succeed Bishop Jenky and will become the 9th Bishop of the Diocese of Peoria.

St. Anthony and Sacred Heart Catholic Churches + Sunday May 24, 2020 , NEWS RELEASE Catholic Diocese of Peoria May 18, 2020 For Immediate Release ORDINATION DATE ANNOUNCED FOR COADJUTOR BISHOP OF PEORIA PEORIA, IL: The Diocese of Peoria joyfully announces the ordination of Coadjutor Bishop-Elect Louis Tylka will take place on Thursday, July 23, 2020 in the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception, in Peoria. Coadjutor Bishop-Elect Tylka will one day succeed Bishop Daniel Jenky as the ninth Bishop of the Diocese of Peoria. Cardinal Blase Cupich, of Chicago, will be the principal consecrator. Bishop Daniel Jenky will serve as co-consecrator. Archbishop Christophe Pierre, Apostolic Nuncio to the United States, has confirmed that he will participate in the ordination liturgy. Archbishop Pierre, who serves as the representative of PopeFrancis to the United States, will read the or letter from Pope Francis appointing Coadjutor Bishop-Elect Tylka to Peoria. Bishop Jenky, who is in his 19th year as Bishop of Peoria, said, “I look forward to working with Bishop Lou as we preach the Gospel in central Illinois. Something New For Our Parishes!! Online Giving

We are now offering Online Giving! Visit our website to sign up and to begin contributing automatically to our parishes bank accounts. This convenient new system does not require you to contact your bank to sign up or to make changes. You can use any of your checking or savings accounts and the funds will be automatically transferred to our parish bank account. This system is more convenient for the parish than electronic checks from your bank. And it’s convenient for you because you can make changes at any time. You can see reports on your contribution history and generate tax statements at each year’s end. This year the church will be sending tax statements to everyone as we are mid way through the year. All financial offerings will still be recorded in the Church data base for backup on tax reports.

1) Go to our website at theheartandthelily.org or search for St. Anthony’s Atkinson or Sacred Heart, Annawan and click on theheartandthelily web page. The main page has information on St. Anthony’s on the left and Sacred Heart on the right. Each par- ish has their own link for online giving. Under St. Anthony’s parishioners should see a link titled St. Anthony’s Online Giving. Under Sacred Heart, parishioners should see a link titled Sacred Heart Online Giving. Click on the link you would like to enter.

2) You will be directed to the OSV (Our Sunday Visitor) hub. In the hub you will see the church (either Sacred Heart or St. An- thony’s) on the left side. You will also see a list of funds. Click on the name of the fund you would like to see. Example: Sunday Contribution. Once you click on the title of the fund a box will appear with a description of the fund. Once you have decided this is the fund you would like to contribute towards click the green button GIVE NOW.

3) You should see a Configure Gift box. Here you will enter your contribution amount. Example: $20. Enter Gift type (one time or recurring). If you have chosen recurring fill out frequency (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, twice a year, yearly. Enter your giving and start date. If you are in the Flower Fund, Diocesan Collections Fund, Christmas/Easter Fund,or Holy Day Fund you will be prompted to make a note of which cause/Holy Day you are giving to. For Example under Holy Day Fund—please note if you are giving to- wards Solemnity of Mary, Ash Wed. Immaculate Conception , Assumption or All Day and how much to each fund or if it is just towards one fund. Another example: Flower Fund please make a note: Christmas Flowers in memory of the Jones family. (Each Fund Description—under step 2 will tell you what your options are). If the financial bookkeeper has questions they will contact you. After you are done submitting all the information click continue

4) You will be directed to a box to fill out your information (email, name, phone number is optional but does come in handy to be contacted by office staff). Mark the payment type (credit card or bank). For bank: you will be asked to enter your bank routing number, account number and your address. For credit card: you will be asked for the name on the account, card #, CVV (security code), expiration date of the card and your address.

5) You will be given the option of donating 3% to offset the processing fees that the parish has to pay in order to process your financial givings. This amount will be added to your donation. For example if you donate $10 and choose to help the parish with the processing fees, your total amount subtracted will be $10.30. We thank you for those who chose to help us with the bank fees.

6) At this time you will be asked if you would like to save your information for the future. We highly recommend this. In saving your information you set up your OSV hub account. You will set up a password at this time. Once you do this you can manage all payment methonds in the future, review tax statements associated with online giving, set up email reminders and view your year to date contributions and funds you contributed towards, see your scheduled online gifts and transaction history.

7) Once you save your information, or for those who chose not to save, click submit gift. If you would like to contribute to a different fund click on the funds tab at the top of the page and you will be directed to the funds list.

A few notes:

For those who set up a Hub account You will see under the tax statements that several years are available. They are not available through the hub at this point. Your tax statement, through the hub, will start with the date you have given. All other tax statements are available by calling the church office. For the 2020 tax year, you can download the tax statement online, however, at this time it will not have everything you have contributed throughout the year. A separate tax statement, from the parish, will be sent to you to include with your online giving. Starting in 2021—if you solely give online all your contributions will be available to you through the hub. All contributions, through the hub, will be manually imputed into our parish online giving system as a backup for report purposes.

There is help available to you 24 hours a day for any questions you might have. You will note a question mark on the right bottom corner of the page, once you are in the portal.
