1 April, TRUMP 2020 CCRW NEWS President’s Message: Staying safe & healthy at home is a priority! By Liz Pike, CCRW President I salute our Commander in Chief! First off, I stand with President Trump CONTENTS as he declares war on the invisible enemy of COVID-19. From my view, he is leading the charge and doing an admirable job in these President’s Message…….….….1 unprecedented times! Bravo to VP Pence for his role!

Bowerman Report ……..…..…..3 As Trump’s 2016 Presidential campaign took root, I would hear from 2nd VP Report…………………..4 other Republicans about their doubts on his ability to lead in the Treasurer’s Report………………5 unlikely event he would be elected. I defended candidate Trump often and suggested that throughout his successful career and life, he Membership Report ……….…..6 surrounded himself with capable, smart people. This is the reason he’s CCRW Membership Form……..7 been “winning” his entire life. I predicted that he would do the same CCRW May Dinner ……………..8 as President of the United States; he would surround himself with the brightest and best! He’s done that! This is why has been Member Business Directory..….9 winning for the past three years and that’s why our nation will prevail CCRW Campaign School ……10 against this evil, corona virus enemy. My family and I are being obedient; we are staying home, and only leaving our farm to get necessary supplies, (things like milk and chicken feed). I’ve been a UPCOMING closet ‘prep-er’ most of my life, so our larder is plenty stocked. EVENTS Corona Virus dominated the 2020 Legislative Session. This year’s Washington State Legislative session began with a focus on dealing Tentative Event; this may be with the homeless crisis and navigating a supplemental transportation rescheduled; stay tuned. budget in response to voter-approved car-tab-fee reductions. The Thursday, May 7, 2020 Dems thought they would also be able to mow over Republican CCRW Dinner Meeting minorities to pass their favorite pet projects: new climate change laws 6pm Social that would dramatically raise fuel taxes and pass even more firearm 6:40pm Dinner restrictions on law abiding citizens. In the end, however, neither of Club Green Meadows these passed. That’s the sliver lining on this otherwise horrid virus! Keynote Address by Loren Culp, Police Chief for the City of Lawmakers quickly switched gears during session as they watched Republic and WA State candidate businesses across Washington shut down to prevent the spread of for Governor COVID-19. There’s no question the state will see reduced tax collections in the coming quarters of 2020. CONTINUED FROM PAGE 1 In the end, both sides of the aisle came together to appropriate $200 million from state reserves to respond to COVID-19. $160 million was added to fund homelessness and housing affordability. Cities and Counties also have new legislative authority to raise local sales taxes to be used for housing, without having to put it to citizens for a vote. If you reside in a City controlled by liberals, hang onto your wallet! With bipartisan support, legislators passed a firearms bill that centralizes the state’s background-check system by housing it with the Washington State Patrol. Democrats also passed a bill to create a state Office of Firearm Safety and Violence Prevention, a new bureaucracy aimed as using data to better understand why and where gun violence occurs in Washington.

One of the darkest moments of this session proved to be when Democrats passed SB 5395, mandating all public schools K-12 teach sex education. I hope opponents are successful in safely collecting enough signatures in order to get this on the November 3rd ballot as a referendum. This is another example of Dems thinking they know what’s best for you and your children! I look forward to having an opportunity to sign this petition soon!

Spending every last dime and increasing taxes on working families year after year is not a prudent way to govern. Yet, that’s what Democrat majorities have delivered to our state for the past 6 years! I predict all this unsustainable spending in Olympia will create huge budget deficits going forward in 2020. This fall, long after our nation has recovered from the pandemic, the election season will ramp up with fervor. As citizens and as candidates, we must be vocal about the irresponsible way majority Dems have managed our state’s operating budget. Voters should fire them all! But all that election stuff can wait. For the moment, we must all do our part to win this war! Check in on neighbors that may need help with groceries. Protect yourself. Wash your hands frequently and don’t touch your face! Let’s all do our part by staying home! Focus on things that matter; God and family! Events cancelled. As you know, Clark County Republican Women (CCRW) took responsible action to cancel March events, including our dinner meeting featuring Washington Gubernatorial Candidate Joshua Freed and the Winning Strategies Campaign School. In a couple of weeks, the CCRW Board of Directors will conduct its scheduled meeting virtually. Our board will discuss upcoming CCRW events tentatively set for May and beyond. I look forward to continuing to keep you updated as these details are finalized. Candidate filing week is coming up: May 11- 15. CCRW has every intention to reschedule our campaign school which will benefit any Republican candidate who plans to file for office during the second week of May. This dynamic program will provide a roadmap to successfully win a campaign for elective office. The campaign school, once rescheduled, will be open to all Republicans, women and men. It’s also ideal for campaign managers and campaign team members. We need qualified Republicans running in every race in anticipation of a RED WAVE in 2020!

CCRW has also scheduled a Gubernatorial Debate for all declared Republican candidates on Thursday, June 25th at Camas High School. So far, Joshua Freed, Phil Fortunato, Loren Culp and Anton Sakharov have all accepted our invitation to participate in this important pre-primary debate. Stay tuned for confirmation details about this important event. It is my hope this will be one of many CCRW events that take place as planned! Lastly, thank you for the trust you have placed in our entire board! It’s an honor and privilege to serve with Karen Bowerman, our First Vice President, Liz Cline, our Second Vice President, Anna Miller, our Secretary and Nicole Wubben, our Treasurer. These ladies rock and so do our members! May God bless you and yours!

BLESSINGS TO ALL! It goes without saying that having to postpone major Republican events in a presidential election year is disheartening on many levels. Treasurer’s Report By Nicole Wubben, CCRW Treasurer

As you know, our March meeting had to be cancelled because of COVID-19. At this meeting, were were scheduled to come together and vote for a deserving organization to be our recipient for the current year Impact Award. Unfortunately, this vote will be delayed until which time CCRW is able to host a dinner meeting. However, I’m listing the three entities that our members will be voting on, once that meeting takes place. Read about these three organizations now so that when we do get together, you’ll be ready to cast a vote for the charity of your choice. Our budget includes a match of $500 for the first $500 contributed from our members and guests. After CCRW members select the recipient, we will be highlighting this organization and encouraging members to support their cause. Contributions will be carefully tracked throughout the year and will be presented to the organization at our January meeting in 2021. Your vote at our next meeting, (whenever it takes place) is important and meaningful in selecting who will be the recipient of our 2020 Impact Award! SAMPLE BALLOT: 2020 Impact Award Ballot for CCRW Members (Members will vote for one at our next CCRW Meeting) __ Options 360 is pro-life based organization which offers pregnancy testing, limited ultrasound, education and unconditional support.
