Vancouver Public Transportation – Lodging to Venue:

Olympic Bus Network for Ticket Holders

Cypress Mountain Venue: VANOC will operate a charter bus service – the Olympic bus network – to take ticket holders up to the Cypress Mountain venue. All Cypress ticket holders, whether they are travelling from Metro Vancouver, the Sea to Sky corridor or elsewhere, must travel to Cypress via the Olympic bus network.

There will be specific departure hubs for Cypress Mountain. We recommend taking transit or rideshare/carpooling to one of the following departure hubs:  Capilano University ()  ()  * (North Vancouver) * Please note there is no parking at Lonsdale Quay. It is accessible by public transit. Visit travelsmart2010.ca for transit schedules.

West and Downtown Vancouver (near Olympic Village and BC Place) The closest departure hub to Cypress from Vancouver (including The Listel Hotel) is Lonsdale Quay. You can walk to the closest SkyTrain station (Burrard SkyTrain station is only a 10 minute walk from the Listel Hotel) and take it to the Waterfront station. That is where you will get on the SeaBus, which will take you to the Lonsdale Quay departure hub in only 12 minutes. Your ticket from the SkyTrain will transfer onto the Seabus. (The total cost from the Listel Hotel to Lonsdale Quay is $3.75.) Please click here for SkyTrain and SeaBus schedule and map information.

You’ll need to book your seat on the Olympic bus network and, if you are arriving at the departure hub by car, a parking space for the vehicle. Please consider rideshare/carpool to reach your hub.

UPDATE: VANOC has announced the web site to purchase tickets for transportation from Vancouver to any of the Whistler & Cypress venues. Please visit http://www.departurehubs.clickandpark.com/hub/cypress to book your seat on the Olympic Bus Network. VANOC encourages all people traveling to Cypress Mountain from Vancouver to become familiar with the site and plan ahead for your travel needs.

The Olympic Bus Network is a first-come, first-serve system and prices will double after January 11th. While the USOC does provide two tickets for each athlete for events they are scheduled to compete in, the USOC does not provide transportation tickets.

On the website, (http://www.departurehubs.clickandpark.com/hub/cypress) individuals will be directed to enter the Session Code they are purchasing a bus ticket for. (For Session Codes, please visit http://media.ussa.org/eventsgeneral/Session%20Codes.pdf) You must know the session code for the events you plan to attend in order to proceed. There has been speculation that individuals would also need to know their ticket holder account but this will NOT be required.

A round-trip ticket (GST and fees included) to Cypress will cost $14 if booked by midnight on January 10, 2010. Prices will increase to $25 on January 11, 2010. All bus tickets are non- refundable and Visa is the only payment card accepted.

Olympic and Paralympic event ticket holders (for all venues except Cypress) have unlimited access to transit services on the event day until the end of services the following morning. Vancouver’s transit network consists of public buses, SkyTrain (), SeaBus (passenger ) and the (rail service).

Passengers with mobility limitations will find that 100% of the BC Transit fleet, Canada Line and the SkyTrain, the SeaBus and the West Coast Express are fully accessible. All buses on the Olympic Bus Network have either low-floor access or are lift-equipped.

Public Transportation

Metro Vancouver is served by TransLink, which operates an integrated transportation system of buses, the SeaBus, the West Coast Express and the SkyTrain automated system. The SkyTrain service will expand in November 2009 to include the new 16-station, 19 km Canada Line linking Vancouver with Richmond and YVR. The Canada Line will connect with the existing Expo and Millennium SkyTrain lines, the West Coast Express, and the SeaBus at Waterfront Station in downtown Vancouver.

Canada Line, TransLink’s newest addition, connects with the existing Expo and Millennium SkyTrain lines, West Coast Express and SeaBus. The line will serve the Richmond Olympic Speed Skating Oval, the Vancouver Olympic/Parlympic Center, the Athlete’s Village and also connects to Canada Hockey Place and BC Place Stadium, terminating at Waterfront Station near the Main Media Center. Passengers will be able to travel on the Canada Line from downtown Vancouver’s Waterfront Station to the in five minutes and to the YVR in approximately 25 minutes.

Outside Vancouver – Vancouver's public transit buses and the SkyTrain system extend throughout the Lower Mainland. Bus routes reach as far south as White Rock, just minutes from the United States border, and east to Maple Ridge and Aldergrove. The SkyTrain system continues to Surrey, in the Fraser Valley, and is usually the fastest way of reaching destinations along its routes.

The West Coast Express is a rail service traveling between downtown Vancouver and Mission in the Fraser Valley in approximately 73 minutes. The service runs will be increased significantly during the Games period. Tickets can be purchased at one of the ticket vending machines located at all stations. These allow transfer to any of Vancouver's public transit buses, the SeaBus or SkyTrain.

The TrainBus follows the route of the West Coast Express and stops at all stations. The TrainBus runs seven days a week.

Regional bus services operate throughout communities in British Columbia. They may be helpful for reaching coach services or other connections to Host Venue Cities.
