2018 Official HS Tournament Rules

1. High School rules apply with a few exceptions.

2. You may DH for anyone in your order but that person is locked into that position along with the DH when you go to substitute. There is a reentry rule which allows you to take your starters and reenter them one time.

3. A Runner for the and catchers is SUGGESTED for both unless you do not normally for them. For this tourney courtesy runners can be anyone even if they have been substituted for and are no longer eligible to bat or play the field!

4. Game Time: Starts at completion of coin toss.

HS: 60’6” pitching, 90’ bases, 1 hr 45, 7 , 15 runs after 4 innings, 8 runs after 5 innings.

A 20 run rule after 2 complete innings.

5. Home Team: Determined by coin flip in pool play, in playoff rounds the better seeded team will be given choice of home/visitor. Home team is required to keep the official book.

6. Player Minimum: A team must start with a minimum of 9 players but can finish with less, taking outs in vacated batting position.

7. Pitching Rules: Innings pitched will be recorded by 1/3 of an . 1 out = 1/3 inning pitched, 2 outs = 2/3 of inning pitched, and 3 outs =1 full inning pitched. If no outs are recorded the is not charged with any innings pitched. If a pitcher has 1/3 inning left and a play is turned the pitcher is not in violation due the continuous play.

It is a balk if the pitcher, while touching his plate, fakes a throw to first or third base and fails to complete the throw: Pitchers may still fake a throw to second.

Each pitcher is allowed the following innings pitched. There are no per day restrictions for number of innings pitched. Innings may be used at the coaches’ discretion.

Age 15-18u: 8 total Innings

8 pitches to start the game during warm-up and 5 pitches thereafter.

If pitching rules are violated the pitcher and coach will be ejected.

8. Championship Games: No time limit, however, run rules are still in effect.

10. Decisions: The Tournament Director shall have final decision on all tournament questions.

11. Weather Refund Policy: Full refund for complete rain outs; 1 game played = 50% of entry fee; 2 or more games played = no refund. If a team drops out 4 days or less before the start of the tournament the funds are forfeited unless they can be applied to another tournament later in the season at the sole discretion of the Tournament Director.

12. Tie-Breaker System: If a non-seeding game is tied after all innings have been completed (or at time limit), the "California Tie-Breaker" will go into effect. Each team puts the batter who is scheduled to bat last in their offensive half of the inning on second base and plays out a full inning. This happens until the tie is broken and the game is complete. After two complete innings with the runner starting on second base and still no winner, the runner will start on second with one out and the inning will be played out.

13. Pool play games CAN end in ties after all innings have been completed or at time limit.

14. Courtesy Runner: The last batted out may run for the catcher.

15. No metal cleats at Double Angel Fields. Metal cleats are allowed at Ponderosa High School.

16. Tournament Seeding Criteria. After Pool play teams will be seeded using the following criteria:

-Head-to-Head

-Runs Allowed -Draw/Coin Flip
